Welgevonden Private Game Reserve
Situated in the heart of the Waterberg, high in the Limpopo Province on the 34,000 hectare Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, Nungubane Private Game Lodge offers guests an atmosphere of intimate luxury.
The lodge offers ardent game and birdwatchers an ideal refuge from which to pursue their pleasure. Free from malaria and with a temperate climate, Welgevonden is home to a great many species of game, including the Big 5 and 16 species of antelope. Over 250 bird species have been identified ensuring the avid birdwatcher has plenty to spot.
Early morning and evening game drives on the Reserve's vast network of roads enable guests to experience the enchantment of the bush. Whether it's meeting a pride of lions or a herd of elephants, or simply absorbing the sounds and sensations of the bush, your experience will be an unforgettable memory. Unfortunately, no off-roading is allowed in the reserve.
After an encounter on a night game drive with the reserve's nocturnal inhabitants, return to camp and share your experiences over dinner in the boma before retiring to bed to the sounds of the African bushveld.
The lodge accommodates guests in 5 luxury en-suite chalets, with both indoor and outdoor showers. Each chalet has a private wooden terrace, from where you can gaze out over an unspoilt nature reserve teaming with wildlife.
Guests can relax in the lodges' peaceful elegance or, in the heat of the midday sun, around the quiet oasis of the sparkling pool.
There is a waterhole at the lodge, offering additional game viewing opportunities.

Our stay at Nungubane was simply wonderful. The accommodation and setting was delightful, the staff friendly and helpful and the quality of the game drives with ranger Nathan meant we saw an amazing variety of wildlife. Three out of the Big Five, including a stunning herd of elephants and a rather overfed lion digesting his supper! Great food and the small number of guests - 10 maximum - made for a cosy and comfortable experience that our two sons - aged 18 and 20 - will talk about for years to come. A four-wheel drive vehicle might have been useful on the final grave road to Nungubane but we managed to bounce along anyway! And a reminder that those strange-looking 'blankets' in the safari jeep are actually ponchos and do a remarkable job of keeping you warm if you wear them properly.....
A COWIE
Nungubane Private Game Lodge was great. The staff friendly and knowledgable. The food fantastic, the accommodation luxurious and clean. Real fires and hot water bottles, sweets and extras in rooms, personalsied notes etc. The game was great and the lions sightings a real exception. Everything was great.
