Queen Elizabeth National Park
Mweya Safari Lodge offers visitors an unforgettable experience. Located on a peninsula within the heart of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, Mweya Safari Lodge is surrounded by the magical Rwenzori Mountains - aptly described as the 'Mountains of the Moon'. To the east lie the Great Rift Valley hills, separated from the Mountains of the Moon by the meandering Kazinga Channel. Here the water flows endlessly into two giant lakes - Lake George and Lake Edward.
The floor of the Rift Valley teems with wildlife making it one of the treasures of the continent, including the famous tree-climbing lions of the Ishasha sector, which are found in large fig trees in the remote southern extremity of the Park. Game drives are available both morning and evening using Mweya Safari Lodge’s vehicles and knowledgeable drivers. The Kazinga Channel alone is said to contain the world’s largest concentration of hippos. Other wildlife includes lion, warthogs, buffalo, rare aquatic sitatunga antelope, giant forest hog, Uganda kob, topi, waterbuck, elephant and leopard.
The varied habitats in the Queen Elizabeth National Park - lakeshore, swamp, grassland and forest - also support a remarkable 619 species of birds - over 60% of the 1,008 species of indigenous and migratory birds recorded in Uganda.
In the standard Classic Rooms, you will find a simple safari atmosphere with a level of comfort that will not disappoint. These rooms are perfectly situated to view the picturesque Lakes George and Edward. You can also view the Rwenzori Mountains while sitting on the balcony watching the warthogs graze.
There are also Deluxe and Superior Rooms, and cottages available as well. In addition, for those wanting the 'safari feel' there are 4 luxury tents with wonderful deck terraces to marvel at the stunning views of the Kazinga channel in front of you.
The spa and wellness centre at the lodge offers an exercise studio, hair salon, treatment rooms, sauna and steam bath. There is also a swimming pool.
