Game drives on the reserve and in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi
The 1,200 hectare Ubizane Wildlife Reserve is located a 3 hour drive north of Durban and boasts a variety of game including white rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, most species of antelope, and over 450 species of birdlife. The reserve is adjacent to the renowned Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, which was instrumental in saving the rhino from extinction and is the oldest game reserve in South Africa.
Tree Lodge is a luxury lodge dramatically set high up on stilts between fever trees, and the family-friendly Safari Lodge is set amongst rolling lawns. Daily afternoon excursions into the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve in open game viewing vehicles offer guests the opportunity of viewing a wide assortment of African wildlife including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and of course both black and white rhino. Morning game drives are done on the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve itself.
