Nambiti Private Game Reserve
Umzolozolo Private Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands in the malaria-free Nambiti Private Game Reserve. The reserve offers an unrivalled safari experience with the opportunity to view Africa’s Big 5, including cheetah, under the vast African skies. With almost 200 species of birds, the reserve is also a bird lover's paradise. Experienced and enthusiastic game rangers will accompany you on twice daily game drives in open topped 4x4 game viewer vehicles, tracking the Big 5 and sharing their vast knowledge of the surrounding wildlife.
In between game drives, relax on the main lodge's expansive wooden decks and enjoy the magnificent views over the reserve, or head to the swimming pool. The pool is situated high above the valley and offers panoramic views of the African bushveld. Crystal clear water cascades over the rim flow pool into a rock pool below where animals gather to drink. Relax on pool loungers under the shade of umbrellas browsing through the selection of wildlife books while enjoying a cocktail or a snooze to the sounds of wild birds and gently flowing water. There is also a spa where you can enjoy an indulgent body massage.
A full English breakfast, buffet lunch and a scrumptious dinner, as well as a morning game drive muffins and savoury snacks which are served on the afternoon game drive will mean you certainly will not go hungry during your time here!
In the evenings, it is customary to congregate to savour the sounds of the bush and the twinkling stars as night closes in. This tradition is observed at Umzolozolo in an enclosed boma where a blazing log fire creates an opportunity to relax and recall the events of the day enveloped in the unique sounds and smells of Africa - the majestic roar of a lion calling his pride, the cough of a leopard or the whoop of a hyena proclaiming a nearby kill.
Accommodation is in 9 luxurious chalets and suites. These air conditioned rooms are spacious and secluded, with private viewing decks where guests can relax and observe the herds of zebra, wildebeest and impala as they graze below. The rooms have been designed to allow maximum game viewing, with large picture windows looking out onto the valley.
In addition to a private bathroom, each room has an outdoor shower so that even while showering, guests can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Nambiti. Showering in view of a herd of antelope or elephant is an unforgettably African experience!
