Tarangire Simba Lodge

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Simba Lodge Location Map

Located close to Tarangire National Park near the Sangaiwe Gate, Tarangire Simba Lodge is situated in a wildlife-rich area with unhampered views to the beautiful Lake Burunge. Bordered by the Park and a Wildlife Management Area, the setting is stunning.

The main guest areas include a swimming pool, a reception area and a separate lounge and dining room - all connected by wooden walkways. In addition, there is a deck for outdoor dining, plus a ‘tree-top’ viewing platform built in a stately acacia tree to facilitate wildlife watching and star gazing. Afternoon tea is on hand from 15:30 and there is also a fully stocked bar with wine list featuring South African wines.

Elephant, buffalo, ostrich and giraffe frequently pass through the camp, while the birdlife is prolific and vibrant. During the dry season, the small waterhole located in front of the lodge is often visited by a variety of wildlife, and guests can enjoy watching the animals gather to drink from their rooms or the viewing platform.

The accommodation is in 16 classic canvas safari tents constructed on wooden platforms each with en-suite facilities as well as an outdoor shower, and a private veranda with views over the bush. All of this is topped with a thatched roof, complementing rather than intruding on the natural environment. Solar power provides both electricity and hot water. Furnishings are handcrafted from African hardwood decorated with local fabrics.

There is also a family tent.

General Information For Guests

All rooms have en-suite facilities as well as an outdoor shower, and a private veranda with views to the bush. Each room has a torch (flashlight) and umbrella for you to use during your stay here and there is a power strip to charge your devices. There is also a safe for your valuables.

The family tent has two queensized beds.

Solar power provides both electricity and hot water. As the solar lighting may be dimmer than you’re used to, it is highly recommend you bring a headlamp or ‘book light’ for reading in bed at night.

Due to the solar electrical system it is not possible to use a hair dryer at Tarangire Simba. You are kindly asked that you don’t attempt to plug in a hair dryer as in all likelihood it will blow the system resulting in loss of power to the entire lodge.

The lodge can only accommodate CPAP (sleep apnea machines) if they run on battery power, as they do not have 24 hour electricity. You must be fully versed in how the machine works and able to assist the lodge staff in charging the battery. Please advise when booking if you use this device.

The main area of the lodge includes a dedicated reception area and separate lounge and dining room. Common areas are connected with wooden walkways and there is a deck for outdoor dining adjacent to the dining tent. There is a swimming pool at the lodge, and a ‘tree-top’ viewing platform built in a stately acacia tree to facilitate wildlife watching and star gazing. Wi-Fi is available in the main guest areas.

There is also a fully stocked bar with a wine list featuring South African wines.
