The Serengeti
Nestled 6,000 feet on a hill overlooking the stunning Serengeti and Lobo Valley, Taasa Lodge is a permanent tented camp offering well-appointed tents, a warm and cosy main guest area and delicious food along with gracious hospitality. The location, 5 kilometers from Klein's Gate, enables guests to experience the land and wildlife in a more intimate way possible, only outside the invisible boundary of the Serengeti National Park.
The main guest area houses the bar, stocked with fine wines and liquor, a lounging area, art area with easels and paints, small library and the dining room where delicious, gourmet meals will be served. You will feel right at home in this 'Out of Africa' style lodge in-between your game drives. Whether you curl up with a good book, decide to try your hand at painting, or sit with friends with your drink in hand, and marvel about the wildlife you’ve just seen, you will feel transported to another place and time.
During certain months of the year, typically June to October but depending upon rainfall, the migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra create a stunning sight not to be missed. If you’ve never seen a river crossing, you can drive 2 hours through the Serengeti to the Mara or Sand Rivers and try your luck at witnessing a river crossing.
The 12 tents are spacious with a sophisticated, bush-chic design that is sure to delight you. Each tent has a sitting area with leather sofa, chairs and a writing desk. Walk up 3 steps and you will find your bedroom consisting of brushed aluminum-frame beds with comforter and down pillows, wardrobe with robes and slippers. Off the bedroom is the en-suite with a soaking tub, shower and double vanity unit.
Many of the staff are from the nearby villages and are happy to share their customs and answer your questions.
