Tawi Lodge

Amboseli National Park

Tawi Lodge Location Map

At the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and located on a private conservancy of 6,000 acres just 10 minutes from the eastern entrance to Amboseli National Park lies Tawi Lodge, a harmonious combination of modern comfort and African tradition.

Under the umbrella shade of the enormous Tortilis accacia trees, guests have extensive views of Kilimanjaro and the wetlands where the animals come to drink and play.  It is such a fantastic experience to enjoy your favorite drink while witnessing the life of the big elephants playing in the mud just a few meters in front.

The game drives will take you close to the rich wildlife spots, giving you the opportunity to view wild animals in their natural habitat as they go about their daily activities. Whether it is a game drive, nature walk or a camel ride on the conservancy, each activity will offer a unique experience and you will be awed by what you’ll learn.

Amboseli’s delicate and beautiful ecosystem displays a magnificent variety of wildlife, with more than 50 mammal species to see, but the elephants are no doubt the kings of the Park, considered to be among the biggest in the country. Lions, spotted hyenas, wild cats, jackals and caracals represent the carnivores. Cheetah and leopards are not so common, and as far as birds are concerned, there are more than 400 species.  A large resident population of wildebeest together with Burchell’s zebra, also have a home in the Park. Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, buffalo, warthog, black rhino, Masai giraffe, impala, waterbuck and dik-dik are also among the grass-eaters here.

The 13 cottages each have their own wooden-deck veranda and a fabulous view of the highest mountain in Africa, even from the comfort of your bed or your bathtub. Double or twin cottages, all have en-suite bathrooms fitted with both a shower and large Victorian baths. Each cottage has its own fireplace and a mini bar for those special sundowners.

The lodge has a swimming pool and 4 different lounges with 2 bars that are the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a drink, read and watch all forms of wildlife that come to the waterhole.

After dinner, relax by the campfire and listen to the magical sounds of the African bush- as the sunsets and the spectacular night sky slowly appears.
