Guests can step into the relaxed ambience of the lodge with its lush indigenous garden dappled in shade, lounges with internet facilities, bar, huge sparkling pool and thatched dining areas punctuated with original South African art.

Delicious breakfasts and lunches featuring fresh Pan African flavours are served in the main building or on the deck. Dinner is a sumptuous candlelit affair in various enchanting settings in the lodge. The cuisine at Shiduli is a celebration of senses - a feat of innovative flavours overseen by the award winning Head Chef. Boma dinners under the African sky are often ended by traditional dancing - a tribute from the staff to guest.

The 24 intimate air-conditioned en-suite rooms at Shiduli feature rich, earthly tones and aromatic timber. The huge romantic beds fitted with crisp white linen are swathed in flowing mosquito nets under the canopy of a thatch roof.

The rich African toned bathrooms have glass enclosed revitalizing showers with double wash basins. Suites are fully equipped with mini bar fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, hair dryers and personal safes. Take pleasure in the prolific bird activities and animals that visit the garden from your verandah whilst sipping a cocktail.

The Royal Suite, which exudes unsurpassed luxury and elegance, lies tucked away a short distance from the main lodge. The interior of the suite with its kingsized bed, lounge and heavy wooden furniture reflects a grand colonial ambiance.

Rates Include

All meals; tea/coffee; snacks; the Karongwe Reserve fees; dawn and dusk safaris; drinks on dusk safaris (limited to one per person with a choice of local beer, wine or soft drink); are included. PLEASE NOTE: The Tourism Levy is not included and will be added to your room to settle upon departure (currently R14 per person per night, subject to change).


Children Policy

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under the age of 6 years are not allowed on game drives - the Little Paw Centre which offers a children's programme is available (additional charge). Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on bush walks.


Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on bush walks.

A bush walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.

Regardless of age, the final decision on whether a guest can join a bush walk remains with the guide and lodge manager.

Directions For Drivers

From Johannesburg: Take the N4 motorway towards Mbombela (Nelspruit), passing eMalahleni (Witbank) and Middleburg. Turn left into eMakhazeni (Belfast). Once in eMakhazeni, follow the signs and turn right towards Dullstroom, passing through Mashishing (Lydenburg). Continue on the R36 to Ohrigstad and the JG Strydom Tunnel. Approximatly 10 km after the tunnel, turn left onto the R36 towards Tzaneen. The Karongwe Game Reserve is situated on your right. 

From Hoedspruit: Head south on Argyle Road (650m), then turn left toward R527 (100m) Turn right toward R527 (140m), turn right onto R527 (31.1 km) and then turn right onto R36 (23.1 km).



General Information For Guests

All rooms are equipped with a fully stocked mini bar (on request), tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, safe, air conditioning and mosquito nets.

The Royal Suite also has an outside shower and a plunge pool.

The main area consists of the dining area, bar, library, spa, swimming pool and boma.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available.

There is limited mobile/cell phone reception.

Babysitting services are also available.

International adaptors are available from the reception desk.

A same day laundry service is available (weather permitting) at an additional cost.

Activities at Shiduli include game drives, bush walks and bird watching. There is an additional cost for a bush walk, which is payable directly to the lodge and can only be booked on arrival at the lodge. Visits to the local community village can also be arranged (additional cost).

All guests are required to settle their account for extras, such as telephone calls, beverages, on departure. This can be done by credit card or cash.

Your rate includes a Rhino Levy, which is essential in the fight against chromalena, poaching, and many other activities that preserve the wildlife heritage of the Karongwe Reserve for future generations to come.
