Deep within a riverine forest minutes from Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Wilson Airport and Nairobi City is a true wilderness experience. Visitors can arrive into Kenya and get 'straight under canvas' within 30 minutes of leaving the airport. Nairobi Tented Camp is an authentic tented camp in the heart of Nairobi National Park.
It is the first accommodation of any sort to be allowed in this unique safari destination. It is also the first tented accommodation in Nairobi. There isn't anywhere else in the world like it; a wilderness escape where you can savour the thrill of camping in the heart of thick bushland right on the doorstep of Nairobi.
Nairobi the only city in the world to boast a 12,000-hectare park (117 square kilometres), teaming with wildlife, right on its doorstep. Its unfenced southern boundary means that it also provides a welcome dry-season refuge for migratory species. In fact 4,000 zebra, 1,000 wildebeest, 14 species of antelope (including eland and kongoni) all call the Nairobi National Park their home at some point throughout the year.
In turn they attract animals further up the food chain. An estimated population of nearly 40 lion rub shoulders with good numbers of leopard and spotted hyena, as well as the occasional cheetah and the elusive aardwolf. The Park is also an acclaimed Rhino Sanctuary, best known for it's breeding population of over 50 black rhino and 11 white rhino.
Each of the 8 double tents have their own toilet and shower, so you can enjoy the luxury of en-suite living 'safaris style', with hot water heated over a log fire and bought to your shower when you're ready.
Low watt LED lighting in each of the tents runs off rechargeable batteries and solar panels, otherwise guests can enjoy the romance of candles and lanterns…a truly authentic tented camp experience.
Comfortable beds are wrapped in cosy blankets and soft towels are at the ready after you've washed away the red Nairobi dust from the day.
