Kings Camp offers gracious hospitality from a bygone era in a unique romantic ambience, and invites guests to relax in fine colonial style, combined with flexibility that puts the comfort and requests of guests first. The lodge is situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, adjacent and open to the Kruger National Park, boasting a diversity of animal life including the 'Big 5'. The camp is positioned on the edge of a savanna plain and a waterhole, located right in front of the camp, attracts a wide variety of wildlife day and night.

Explore the endless fascination of Africa's wildlife in an open Land Rover - a leopard on the hunt, lions roaring at twilight, hippo wallowing in the river, or a crocodile basking on a sandy bank - the list is endless.

The main lodge boasts a thatched viewing deck with a sunken fire pit and comfortable seating overlooking the waterhole, and the open plan lounge and bar are ideal places to simply relax and soak up the tranquillity of the bush. The spacious dining room offers stunning views of the bushveld. The traditional boma is a truly memorable way to experience an evening under the African night sky and fine cuisine and wines can be sampled while sitting near a warm crackling fire.

If required, guests can enjoy Kosher cuisine, prepared fresh on site, in accordance with Kashrut and Jewish laws. All catering is supervised by a Mashgiach appointed by the Beth Din Kashrut Supervisor in the fully-equipped, Beth-Din Council certified Kings Camp Kosher kitchen. Meat and other products, as well as wines, juices, beers and other beverages will be Kosher approved too.

Seven generously spacious Luxury Suites and two Honeymoon Suites are equipped with air-conditioning, indoor and outdoor double showers, a fully stocked mini-bar and private verandah with a splash pool. Dark tones of wood and thatch offset the natural colours of the bushveld.

Inbetween game drives, enjoy a relaxing treatment in the serenity of the spa or have a quick work out in the bush gym.

Children Policy

Directions For Drivers

From Hazyview: Follow the R40 towards Klaserie. Once past Klaserie, continue along this road until you see the turning off to the right for Eastgate Airport. Turn right here and proceed along this road until you reach the main Timbavati Control Gate/Enkhulu Gate.

From Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport: Turn left and proceed along this road until you reach the main Timbavati Control Gate/Enkhulu Gate.

From Johannesburg/Pretoria: Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank/eMalahleni (from Johannesburg Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12). Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast/eMakhazeni and Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg/Mashishing.

Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad, go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie, and continue along this road until you see the turning off to the left for Eastgate Airport. Turn left here and follow the directions as above From Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport.

From Kruger National Park/Orpen Gate: Exit the Park, and continue along the R531. Turn right onto the R40, and continue along this road until you see the turning off to the right for Eastgate Airport. Turn right here follow the directions as above From Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport.

ONCE AT THE TIMBAVATI CONTROL GATE: For self-drive visitors, there is a vehicle entrance cash fee of R280 per vehicle payable at the gate (cash or Visa/MasterCard credit cards only and subject to change). Please retain your receipt as proof of entrance and have it stamped at your destination when you are leaving, which acts as your Exit Permit. Once inside the gate, follow the signs to the lodge through the reserve.

Do not get out of your car until you reach the lodge. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.

Also, we would advise that you do NOT use a GPS once in the Timbavati, as it is likely to give you incorrect directions!

General Information For Guests

The suites all have indoor and private outdoor showers, mosquito nets, remote controlled air conditioning, purposefully stocked mini bar fridge, tea / coffee making facilities, gowns, mosquito repellents, umbrellas, torches, a safe and a telephone.

A flat screen smart TV, digital satellite Television and apple mac laptop are all available in the lounge for the guests convenience.

The following therapies / treatments are available: reflexology; aromatherapy; Indian head massage; body massage; facials; pedicures; manicures. Rates available on request.

Kings Camp can also arrange tours to the following places of interest : a Mpumalanga Helicopter Safari to the beautiful Blyde River Canyon; Hans Merensky Golf Estate - a challenging 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course, where crocodile and hippo add spice to the normal hazards of a good game of golf; Moholoholo wildlife and rehabilitation center - an extremely informative and exciting tour of an African wildlife rehabilitation centre; Hoedspruit Research and breeding centre for endangered species - an informative and entertaining tour of the research and breeding centre in the company of an experienced guide - the highlights being the viewing of an excess of 60 cheetahs including the extremely rare King Cheetah, a visit to the vulture restaurant and an introduction to the world of wild dogs.

If you are arriving/departing via FedAir, the camp is a 15 minute drive away from the airstrip.
