Ekuthuleni Lodge

Situated in the heart of the malaria-free 34,000 hectare Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, just 3 hours from Johannesburg, Ekuthuleni Lodge invites you to savour true African luxury. Meaning 'place of peace', the lodge has sweeping views of the savannah plains, and is home to the Big Five and many other species of game.

Two daily game drives are conducted by experienced rangers who will provide intimate details of the abundant flora and fauna, many of which is unique to the Waterberg.

Enjoy an early morning safari and watch Africa awaken in front of your eyes, then head home for a scrumptious breakfast before settling down for your midday siesta.

On the afternoon drive, after sundowner drinks, allow the darkness of the African bush to envelop you. Nightlife abounds in the African bush and lions on the hunt and leopards stalking prey in the cover of darkness are truly magnificent sights to behold.

In between game drives, relax next to the swimming pool with an expansive view of the sweeping grassy plains, or watch the sun as its sets at the end of another incredible day.

If the weather is cool, curl up with a book in one of the comfortable lounges, before enjoying a delicious meal in the cozy dining room or the open-air deck, sheltered from the elements by a reed awning.

Each of the 5 suites offer intimacy and privacy, with magnificent views of the grasslands, giving a whole new meaning to nature on your doorstep. The romantic bathrooms open onto a private courtyard and have both indoor and outdoor showers.

There is also a family suite that boasts 2 bathrooms and an additional loft area which accommodates 2 single beds.

Rates Include

Three meals daily; twice daily game drives in open safari vehicles with sundowners and snacks; tea/coffee; the Welgevonden Conservation Fee; and road transfers from the Welgevonden Main Gate or either of the 2 runways to the lodge are included. PLEASE NOTE: All other drinks are not included.

Children Policy

Children aged 6 years and older are welcome. Rates available on request.

Directions For Drivers

From Johannesburg or Pretoria: Take N1 North towards Pietersburg. Ensure you have cash on you at this stage, as this road has several toll gates. At the Kranskop Toll Gate go left towards Modimolle (Nylstroom) on the R33. Pass through Modimolle and head in the direction of Vaalwater. Pass directly through Vaalwater (R33 becomes the R517) and continue on this road until you see the signs for the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. Keep going until you see the turn-off for the Welgevonden Main Gate on your left-hand side. Do not turn left at South Gate or East Gate!

PLEASE NOTE: As no private vehicles are allowed in the reserve, guests have to be picked up from the Welgevonden Main Gate by the rangers at 12:30 daily.

General Information For Guests

The suites are furnished with kingsize beds, large baths and an outdoor terrace. They also have hair dryers, fans and tea/coffee making facilities.

The main are consists of the dining room, bar, lounge and a central swimming pool with an expansive deck. Complimentary Wi-Fi is also available.

Activities available include 2 daily game drives.

A laundry service is available.
