Welgevonden Private Game Reserve

The small and intimate Camp Ndlovu is situated in the 35,000 hectare malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve amid exceptionally beautiful river ravines and spectacular mountain backdrops, offering breathtaking views of the undulating African bush and exuding an air of tranquility.

Head out on morning and afternoon game drives with your knowledgeable guide in an open game viewing vehicle, and enjoy the opportunity to see over 50 different species of mammals, including the Big Five as well as antelope, giraffe, zebra, warthog, cheetah and honey badger. Over 300 bird species can be seen on the reserve, including the rare blue cranes which breed in the southern section early in the year.

The main camp areas feature a lounge and bar, an outdoor pool, viewing deck, and a fitness centre if you are feeling energetic, while for those who wish to indulge there is a spa where you can enjoy a variety of treatments and massages.

Dining at Camp Ndlovu is an African culinary delight with seasonal menus that will treat your taste buds to an array of flavours. Meals can be taken indoors or outdoors at your pace. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, in the dining area or on the terrace, are served throughout the day and to complete your ‘safari adventure’ enjoy a boma dining experience under the stars.

Accommodation is in 5 luxurious and elegant suites, which all offer complete comfort and privacy. Each suite has its own plunge pool, outdoor shower and outdoor bath, and a large wooden viewing deck.

Two of the suites are interleading, making this an ideal option for families or friends travelling together.

Rates Include

All meals; complimentary drinks, soft drinks, local beers and house wines; early morning and evening game drives in an open game viewer; and return scheduled transfers from the Welgevonden Reserve main gate or Welgevonden airstrip to Camp Ndlovu are included.

Directions For Drivers

From O.R. Tambo International Airport: Take the R21 to Pretoria. Take exit 134 onto the N1 North towards Polokwane. When reaching the Kranskop Toll Plaza keep to the very left lane onto the R33 towards Modimolle. Drive past Vaalwater, where the R33 becomes the R517. The Main Gate of Welgevonden Game Reserve is 26 km from Vaalwater, on the R517 towards Thabazimbi.

As no private vehicles are allowed in the Welgevonden Game Reserve, guests driving themselves are required to park their car at the Main Gate. Safe covered parking is provided at the gate on the inside of the reserve.

The pick up time at the Welgevonden Main gate is between 12:30 and 13:00 on the day of arrival.

A ranger from the lodge will be awaiting your arrival to transfer you through to Camp Ndlovu which is an approximate 1 hour game drive through the reserve.

General Information For Guests

All of the suites have an outdoor shower and bath, air conditioning, a fan, kingsize extra length bed, a lounge with a fireplace, Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee pods, in-room safe, a mini bar, private plunge pool, pool loungers and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The camp has a main dining area, boma, bar, viewing deck, swimming pool, fitness room, 24 hour front desk, spa and a curio shop.

The spa offers a variety of different massages and treatments (additional cost).

Activities that are offered at Camp Ndlovu include morning and evening game drives.
