Children who visit the family-friendly accommodation available at Grootbos Garden Lodge are very important individuals, with their own ideas and desires. At Grootbos, they understand this and have engineered a special children's programme which provides exhilarating fun for children in the Gansbaai area. As part of this special children's programme, activities and fun adventures are everyday occurrences! The lodge takes great care in keeping their little guests happy.

The activities for children that are on offer at Grootbos Nature Reserve are not just play activities for children - they are a combination of education and fun in a wonderful and unique, natural setting. The tailor-made children's programme is about inspiring, educating, enthusing and entertaining the children to make them curious about what is coming next and to ensure that they spend an exciting, interesting and enjoyable time at the reserve.

Specialised guides accompany the children during exciting treasure hunts, excursions to the beach, to the rock pools for enlightenment on the marine life and trips through the reserve so that the children become familiar with the fascinating eco-system and the history of the area. Horse riding in the reserve is a great way for families to experience nature from close up. Games on the paddock include soccer, trampoline and volley ball.

Families get the chance to plant a tree as part of a restoration programme. The tree is tagged and can be shown to friends back home on Google Earth. While exploring their immediate and natural environment they can collect shells, porcupine quills or bugs, which will be brought back to the activity rooms for exciting identification. At the same time the lodge teaches the children not to destroy or interfere with the natural habitats that they find.

Special children's menus have been designed to ensure that the little ones are well catered for and the lodge also provide refreshments and snacks during the activities.
