Ants Reserve
Ant's Hill has been built on a ridge overlooking a gorge in a private game reserve in South Africa's Northern Province, offering magical views of plains, and distant hills as far as the eye can see. Not only offering a fabulous game viewing experience and a wide variety of activities, it is a superb place to just relax.
Ant's Hill can be booked non-exclusively or exclusively to one party. The emphasis at Ant's Hill is on offering guests a truly personal and flexible safari. There is no specific wake up times, and guests can do what they want when they want.
The reserve is home to a wide and diverse variety of wildlife, flora and fauna, all of which can be explored in a variety of ways - on horseback, in the comfort of an open 4x4 land cruiser, or on an informative and interactive guided bush walk. Game drives to a neighbouring Big 5 reserve can be arranged at an additional cost.
Set in boulders on the edge of the cliff, the heated swimming pool cascades over the lip of the gorge, inducing you to relax there for hours.
The accommodation consists of a variety of cottages - World's View has 2 bedrooms and a private pool; Hideaway has a 4 poster bed and a private plunge pool and garden; there is a Family Cottage with 3 bedrooms; and the Lookout Cottage has a 'bath with a view'. There is also Eagles Nest, which is a standard room in the main lodge.
The main lodge area boasts a vast living area and dining room, both with fireplaces. A spacious verandah and deck overhang the gorge so are ideal for early morning breakfasts and evening sundowners. To top it all, it overlooks a waterhole frequently visited by a variety of game.
