The theme of coffee permeates throughout Arusha Coffee Lodge, reflected in the colours and textures throughout, and the friendly and personable staff help create an ambiance that draws appreciation from all those who visit and stay.

Within the main Plantation House there is an a la carte restaurant, an intimate bar and a cosy lounge, all of which have inviting open log fires that give the cool night air a comforting warmth and throw out a welcoming glow.

There is also a swimming pool and a garden terrace where lunch is served.

The 12 Plantation Suites are spacious and modern with homely touches, and are set among the coffee trees. With a soothing 'rainfall' shower, a large bathtub, attractive decor reflecting the coffee theme, and a private sun terrace with a log fire burner, these suites offer a relaxing environment and encourage you to unwind.

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley. The camp is located very close to the crater floor access road allowing for quick and easy access to the crater floor - perfect for early morning crater safaris.

The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself 2 to 3 million years ago, is 610 metres deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometres.

Supported by a year round supply of water and food, the crater is densely populated with wildlife and is home to about 30,000 animals including zebra, buffalo, warthog, wildebeest, hippo and elephants, and an amazing population of predators - lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.

The main common areas of the camp include a dining area where scumptious buffet-style meals are served, while the lounge area is perfect for afternoon relaxation and the lounge bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. All the main areas including breathtaking views of the spectacular surrounding scenery and large trees surrounding this intimate camp.

The camp offers 10 luxury safari room tents - each with its own en-suite bathroom and indoor bucket shower, with a personal tent attendant filling your bucket shower to the perfect temperature whenever required from the outside. There is also a small sitting area in front of each tent where early morning coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed before starting your day of incredible game viewing.

Most guests choose to enjoy an early breakfast at the camp before heading down into the crater for a full day game drive, indulging in a scrumptious packed lunch midway through the day at a scenic spot on the crater floor.

Serian's Serengeti North Camp

The Serengeti

Days 4 - 7: The Serengeti

Serian's Serengeti North Camp Location Map

Serian’s Serengeti is a mobile camp, and the movement is governed by the wildebeest migration. From mid-June to mid-November, the camp - along with 1.6 million wildebeest - is situated in the far north of the Serengeti plains. The camp is set a mere 2 kilometres from the Mara River, within a 10 minute drive to some of the major wildebeest crossing points.

The cornerstone of a safari experience at Serian is that each group has their own open-top safari vehicle, and their own dedicated guide and spotter. The freedom this grants you is key to getting the most out of your stay - go where the day takes you, be it a full day out with a picnic in the wilderness, or a lazy siesta back in camp before that ice-cold sundowner. The guides here have an intimate familiarity with the landscape, and will translate it so you see it through their eyes.

Walking safaris are also a beautiful way to explore. Set off with the first light in the company of Alex or one of the other guides, and tune into the whispering savannah silence away from the hum of a vehicle. As you ease into a slower pace, you'll notice your senses picking up on the finer details - the intricate perfections of a skeleton, a map of secret paw prints, or a microcosmic universe in a termite mound.

The camp strikes the perfect balance between colonial camping style, and elegant accents of comfort - home away from home, in the form of 5 spacious, lavish en-suite tents and one family tent (which consists of 2 separate en-suite tents joined by a communal living space). Each is complemented by tasteful decor that lends a touch of sumptuousness to the interiors.

The en-suite bathrooms include a bucket shower and a flushing toilet - classic safari simplicity with a nod to lifes little comforts.

General Information For Guests

Children of any age are welcome.

The tents are all en-suite with a bucket shower and a flush WC. They also have electric power sockets, and are positioned to take advantage of the views over the Lamai Wedge.

The main area consists of the communal dining tent and bar. There is a safe available in the managers office to store valuables.

The camp is powered by a generator providing 24 hour electricity, and as such battery charging facilities are available. There is no Wi-Fi available in the camp, and mobile/cell phone coverage is not reliable.

Activities that are available include game drives, walking safaris, sleep outs and bird watching.

A complimentary laundry service is available.

The game vehicles are specially customised and able to handle the terrain, and are designed for sun, rain, wind, and above all, the feeling of having as little as possible separating you from what’s out there.

Adventure fly camping is another activity on offer. It takes its name from sleeping in the bush under nothing more than a flysheet, as was the camping tradition before the luxury-laden era of ‘glamping’ arrived. The premise is that you spend the days walking, and the nights sleeping out in light weight tents, in a makeshift camp that moves each day – the end of each day’s walk brings you to your new site for the night. Pre-booking is essential (additional cost).

On your day of departure, if you have a morning flight from the airstrip, there is the option to take a packed breakfast out and enjoy an early game drive en-route to the airstrip; otherwise you can enjoy breakfast at the camp before departing for the drive to the airstrip - and enjoy a lie in!

Serian’s Serengeti North Camp is open from mid June to mid November.

Credit card facilities are not available at camp, but cash is accepted.

Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children under the age of 12 years are not permitted on walking safaris. The final decision on whether a guest can join a walking safari remains with the guide and camp manager.
