Suggested Holiday Itinerary

4 Night Primates Tour of Uganda

Summary Of The Route and Costs

Fly around Uganda and trek chimpanzees in Kibale and gorillas in Bwindi on this memorable 4 night trip.

Upon arrival into Uganda's Entebbe Airport, you will be met and transferred to a nearby guest house for an overnight stay, enabling you to relax and catch up on any lost sleep from your international flight before your memorable primate trekking holiday begins in the morning.

Early the next morning you will be transferred back to the airport for your morning flight to the Kibale National Park. Here, you will embark on a trek into the forest in search of the one of the chimpanzee troups that swing boisterously through the tree tops. You will most likely hear them before you see them!  Having spent an hour in their company, watching as they go about their chimp daily life, you will head to Papaya Lake Lodge where you will stay overnight. Papaya Lake Lodge has glorious views over the lakes, so it is a fitting way to end your first marvellous full day in Uganda.

The next morning, another early flight will take you to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - home to the endangered mountain gorillas. This afternoon, you can choose to relax at the lodge (and if you are lucky, you may see a gorilla as they occasionally pop by the lodge for a surprise visit!) or go out with a guide and enjoy a peaceful forest nature walk or visit the local village.

Fall asleep to the sounds of the forest and awaken to chattering birds and monkeys as day breaks. Enjoy morning tea/coffee on your private verandah with sweeping views over the forest - what better way to start the day - before heading off to your briefing for your gorilla trek. You will be assigned a gorilla family and you head into the forest with a guide and porters who are available to assist you over any tricky bits of the path.  Once you find your gorilla family, you have an hour with them before returning to the lodge to relax for the rest of the day.

You then fly back to Entebbe the following day and check in for your international flight home.

The terrain is often steep and through areas where there are no marked paths. It can be VERY strenuous - it may be just a couple of hours but it can also be for a full day of up to 8 hours or more of hiking in hot, high altitude conditions - please be prepared for this by being as fit as possible!

Check in for your international flight home. Depending on the time of the international flight, there may be an opportunity to do an afternoon activity (additional cost), such as visit the Mbamba Swamps in search of the elusive shoebill, or visit the chimpanzee sanctuary on Ngamba Island.
