Your holiday begins with flying by light aircraft across to the Madikwe Game Reserve - the flight takes an hour from Johannesburg.
Situated in the very heart of the 75,000 malaria-free Big 5 Madikwe Game Reserve, Madikwe Hills offers visitors the most amazing South African safari adventure. Explore the wonders of the African bush in state of the art open game vehicles with bucket seats and fold-down armrests ensuring your optimum safety and comfort. Knowledgeable and professional rangers conduct early morning and late afternoon, or evening, game drives in search of Africa's big game and smaller wildlife.
You then return to Johannesburg for a luxurious overnight stay at the InterContinental Hotel, situated at the airport only a short walk from the Arrivals Hall. Indulge in a spa treatment, or take a dip in the indoor heated swimming pool, and then enjoy a uniquely African dining experience at the hotel’s Quills Restaurant.
The following morning, you will board a flight to Mozambique where you’ll be transferred by helicopter to your island retreat. Built entirely by the island’s local community, this stunningly unique resort has become the last word in barefoot escapism.

Arrive into at Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport. Once you have cleared Customs and collected your luggage, you will be met in the Arrivals Hall by a representative from FedAir, who will transfer you to the private FedAir departure lounge, where you can relax before boarding your flight across to the Madikwe Game Reserve.

You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Madikwe Hills. Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is situated on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Madikwe is home not only to the Big Five of Africa (lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino and leopard), but also to a wealth of over 66 mammal species, including the rare African wild dog, as well as cheetah, eland, kudu, giraffe and a range of more than 300 resident and migratory species of birds.

After you return from your morning game drive, you will have time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before you need to check out of your room. You can then relax around the main lodge guest areas before it is time to depart for the trip back to the airstrip, where you will board the plane back to Johannesburg.

Exit the terminal, and cross the road to the InterContinental Airport Hotel, where you can relax for the rest of the day.
Make your way back to the airport terminal and check in for your flight to Mozambique. Passengers are advised to check in 2.5-3 hours prior to the flight departure time.
Airlink 4Z260 (Economy Class): Fly from O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) departing at 11:35 to Vilanculos Airport (VNX), arriving at 13:05
On arrival at Vilanculos Airport, after clearing Immigration and Customs you will you will be met by an Azura Benguerra airport representative, and escorted to the helipad, where you will board the helicopter and be whisked away to the island in style. Please note that there is a 20 kg luggage restriction, and your luggage must be in a soft bag. The flight takes about 15 minutes.
