Guests are also offered daily bush walks after breakfast to suit their interests and fitness levels, accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker.
Thornybush Game Lodge has a fully equipped spa, which offers a range of treatments such as massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, facials, manicures and pedicures.
Massages are also offered within the privacy of the guests' room, on their deck.
Thornybush Game Lodge offers 18 stylish suites and 2 family/safari suites accommodating a maximum of 40 guests.
The luxury suites line the banks of the seasonal Monwana River, all with spectacular views of the active water hole and the surrounding savanna. Spaciously appointed, each glass fronted suite has mini bar fridge, telephones, air-conditioning and private decks, as well as en-suite bathrooms with massive wooden framed windows overlooking the river, with indoor and outdoor showers.
In addition, the exclusive-use Kamara House is a private house overlooking a small riverbed and is perfect for multigenerational families or small groups. The villa-style house has two en-suite bedrooms, and the third room is interleading to the main bedroom which provides a shower only. From the moment you arrive, everything is taken care of by the friendly staff and your dedicated butler, so you can spend the day relaxing on sun loungers with your book or watch passing wildlife from the rim-flow plunge pool. Close to Game Lodge, you can stroll across to the Spa for a wellness massage or pre-lunch drinks on the main deck.

Dawn and dusk shared safari game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles; bushveld walks; all meals, tea/coffee, snacks and sundowner drinks on game drives; the Thornybush Conservation fee; and the Tourism bed levy are included. PLEASE NOTE: All other drinks are NOT included.
Children Policy
Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under the age of 6 years are not allowed on normal game drives, however the lodge offers a special childrens programme, available on request. Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on guided walks.
Children under the age of 6 years are not allowed on normal game drives, however, Thornybush Game Lodge has a special programme prepared for them prior to their arrival. They are allocated to specific rangers, and each child will receive a complimentary children's 'Little Ranger in Training' pack on arrival, which will keep them entertained and occupied during their stay.
Rat packs (cold drinks/cookies) are sent with them on game drives.
Drives and activities can be tailored to suit children's interests and attention span, and walks are designed to ensure that their safety is taken into account and that they experience activities they might not normally do in the city.
Meal requirements and venues are provided if required by parents. Baby sitters and child minders are also available (at an additional cost - rates on request).
Some other activities that children can enjoy are picnics next to the pool, short walks with their own ranger who will point out insects, tracks of animals, trees and interesting facts, and treasure hunts, where the children have to find clues around the lodge using books from the library, to get to their treasure (a little something supplied by parents).

Directions For Drivers
From Eastgate/Hoedspruit Airport: Turn left and proceed along this road. After about 15 km, turn right at the Thornybush signboard into Guernsey Road, continue down this road for about 9 km, and the entrance to the reserve will be on your left-hand side.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RATE YOU HAVE PAID FOR YOUR STAY AT THORNYBUSH GAME LODGE INCLUDES THE CONSERVATION FEE, SO PLEASE DO NOT PAY THIS AGAIN !
Once inside the gate, follow the signs to the lodge through the reserve. Allow about 20-30 minutes to drive from the gate to the lodge.
Do not get out of your car until you reach the lodge. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.
From Hazyview: Follow the R40 towards Klaserie. Continue through Klaserie, and about 6 km before you reach Hoedspruit itself, turn right at the signboard towards Eastgate Airport/Thornybush Reserve/Timbavati Reserve (Argyle Road). Go past the airport, continue along this road and follow the directions as above.
From Kruger National Park/Orpen Gate: Exit the Park, and continue along the R531. Turn right onto the R40, and follow the directions as above.
From Johannesburg/Pretoria: Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank/eMalahleni (from Johannesburg Airport, follow signs to Boksburg to find the N12). Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast/eMakhazeni and Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg/Mashishing.
Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad, go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie, and continue along this road until you see the turning off to the left for Eastgate Airport. Turn left here and follow the directions as above.
General Information For Guests
All suites offer an en-suite bathroom with a large bath overlooking the africa bush with indoor and outdoor showers and double basin. All suites also have air conditioning, mini bar, tea/coffee station, a hair dryer, dresssing gowns, a room safe, mosquito nets and a private wooden deck.
The family suites feature a private plunge pool on the deck. Another extra in these units is the lounge which has a sleeper couch to accommodate 2 children.
The main area of the lodge includes a restaurant, TV Room, a bar, a swimming pool and a spa.
There is secure parking.
A laundry service is available (additional cost).
Credit card facilities are available.
Wi-Fi is available at an additional cost per stay.
Dusk and dawn safaris depart in an open Land Cruiser with experienced rangers and trackers. These drives are undertaken at times best suited for game viewing which varies depending on the season.
After breakfast, guests are also offered walks to suit their interests and fitness levels and are accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker.
Guests are invited to visit the Hlokomela community project encompassing local initiatives to provide services to the local communities. The Thornybush Collection chooses to support the Hlokomela Community Projects and invites guests to visit the project which is an approximate 45 minute drive from Thornybush Game Reserve, in an air conditioned minibus. If you are arriving/departing via FedAir, the lodge is a 5 minute drive away from the airstrip.
