The Garden Route
Join the southern most elephants in the world at the Knysna Elephant Park where the resident family of African elephants and world-class guides will unravel the sad and mystical story of the Knysna Elephants.
The Park offers a rare and exciting opportunity to get close to these gentle giants, who live in a controlled, free range environment in the heart of the famous Garden Route.
The elephants live amongst and interact with humans every day, but still walk and browse in the fields as they would do in the wild.
Your experience with the elephants is therefore as natural as possible - the elephants are never asked to perform tricks or behave in a manner that is not natural to them.
The Elephant Lodge offers the unique experience of sharing the elephant's accommodation with them. Knysna Elephant Park's elephants end their day by heading to their world-class boma for the night, where they enjoy some rest and pampering, with a bed of soft sawdust and a mountain of branches to keep them busy munching !
The lodge comprises 6 rooms which have been built within the boma. All the rooms have been luxuriously decorated with a distinct elephant theme throughout.
The unique Elephant Lounge forms the central relaxation area and overlooks the elephants' sleeping quarters. Here you are able to relax and watch the elephants enjoying their evening meal.

Our stay at Knysna Elephant Lodge was so special. Being able to sit and watch the elephants through the night, as one by one they lay down to go to sleep was just fantastic. Warm blankets and hot drinks were provided. A big thank you to Mac and his team who were so knowledgable and clearly love their elephants. The children had a great time feeding the elephants and then having a ride.
