Hwange National Park

Somalisa Camp is set in a stunning location in the heart of the famous Hwange National Park, tucked away on an acacia island along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain, providing breathtaking views of the open savannah plains. Somalisa is a place where tranquillity meets adventure, providing a safari experience that will exceed expectations.
Wildlife sightings here include kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, and large populations of elephant for which the Park is famous for. Hwange is also known to have one of the highest diversities of bird species in Southern Africa, with up to over 470 being recorded.
The camp offers a range of game viewing activities from walking safaris to day and night game drives, all of which are lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you.
The camp consists of 7 elegantly furnished Sail Tents with beautiful en-suite bathrooms which feature indoor and outdoor showers as well as copper slipper-style bathtubs.
The main area includes a separate lounge and dining area, as well as a viewing deck and a small splash pool guests can relax whilst soaking in the African bush. This overlooks both the 'Elephant Pool' and a natural waterhole where herds of game come to drink.
Additionally, experience an enthralling night under the starry sky at Somalisa Sleep-Out - a romantic treehouse retreat overlooking a watering hole just 25 minutes from the camp.
Rates Include
Park fees; the Conservation levy; all meals; all beverages except premium imported spirits and champagne; 2 shared game viewing activities per day; transfers to and from the nearest airstrip; medical evacuation insurance; and a laundry service are included.
Children Policy
Children aged 12 years and older are welcome. Rates available on request.
Bush Walks / Walking Safaris
Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on walking safaris. The final decision on whether a guest can join a walking safari remains with the guide and camp manager.

General Information For Guests
All of the tents have indoor/outdoor showers, a copper slipper-style bathtub, tea/coffee making facilities, mosquito nets, a fan, a wood-burning fireplace and a private viewing deck.
The camp consists of a combined lounge and dining area, a gift shop, and a viewing deck and plunge pool overlooking a waterhole. Battery Charging facilities are available in the main area.
Activities that are available include morning and afternoon/night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, walking safaris (guides are armed for safety), bird watching and cultural tours (additional cost) to the local villages.
The camp is open all year round.
The Sleep Out is a romantic treehouse retreat overlooking a watering hole, situated 25 minutes from camp. Pre-booking is required and may incur additional costs.
A laundry service is included.
With a complete solar power farm and water purity system which allows the camp to recycle 80% of the water used, Somalisa Camp is leading the way in eco-friendly safari accommodation. It has been awarded the first GOLD Green Tourism Certification in Zimbabwe.
The camp is a 4 hour road transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport (2 hours from the airport to Hwange Main Gate followed by a 2 hour ‘game transfer’ to Somalisa Camp). By air, the flight is 45 minutes from Victoria Falls International Airport to Manga Airstrip followed by a 30 minute 'game drive transfer' to the camp. All times are estimated.
