Timbavati Game Reserve
Situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve, Shindzela Tented Safari Camp offers an affordable Kruger safari holiday without compromising on important safari experiences such as the thrill of viewing African wildlife, marvelling at a beautiful sunset or relaxing around the camp fire with a drink.
The main focus is on game drives in open 4x4 vehicles (day and night drives) as well as walking safaris.
The open Land Cruisers can comfortably accommodate 10 guests per vehicle. The game drives (one drive early morning and one late afternoon and early evening which last for approximately 3 to 3.5 hours each, depending on animal movements) are conducted in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve on Shindzela’s traversing concession and often you will drive off-road into the bush in search of predators or unusual sightings.
The walking safaris (maximum of 8 guests) are led by a professional, experienced safari guide and a tracker. Your Kruger walking safari generally begins at dawn and there is ample opportunity to stop along the trail to examine interesting features of the bush or to observe animals, before returning to the camp mid morning to enjoy a hearty brunch.
Shindzela has 8 safari canvas tents. Each tent is built on a wooden deck and has a thatch grass roof, designed to keep you cool in summer and cosy in winter. The tents all have a private en-suite bathroom and a private deck/porch where you can sit and relax. Six of the tents have a view of the waterhole and 2 tents are set further away, offering slightly more privacy with views of the dry river bed.
The main guest areas at the camp include a swimming pool, a dining area and a lounge area.

Shindzela has a particularly nice feel and aspect to it, in our opinion.

We also LOVED Shindzela Tented Safari Camp. Also fewer guests and more personal. You could tell our guide loved being out with the animals, and it showed in the way he respected the many animals we saw.
C HUNTER
Absolutely fantastic safari holiday. Both camps especially Shindzela were just what we wanted, with excellent game viewing plus friendly and helpful staff. In addition the food was first rate.

Thank you very very much for the holiday booking you made for us. It was really REALLY AMAZING!! I could say that this was a super holiday, the location was perfect, the staff did a fantastic job, food was a delight and the scenery and animals were a fantastic experience, amazing as we did see all the big 5 several times, even see 2 killings and lots of beautiful animals and birds. Even the transport to Shindzela with Ashtons was great as we enjoyed the conversation with the driver. Shindzela is a great lodge, food and services very good, the location is amazing as it's inside the park and no fences :) Also the game drives were amazing, they did all the best for us to see and enjoy the beautiful animals.

We just returned from our safari trip and we had an amazing time. I just really want to thank you for all your help and attention in helping us book this experience. We were completely overwhelmed with all the options and would not have been able to book it on our own. Shindzela and Africa on Foot were amazing to us and we couldn't have asked to be treated better. I will recommend your services and their camps to anyone and everyone who asks.

Shindzela Tented Safari Camp: We loved the tent, the layout, meal times (eating with the other guests was a great way to meet new people), the drink stops during the morning and evening game drives and our guide was the best of the whole trip. He was a friendly, helpful person and his knowledge and way of sharing information was amazing. We learnt so much about the animals.
A WALKER
Shindzela was fantastic and the family atmosphere there was welcoming and one that I would return to tomorrow if I had the chance. The night in the hide was one that I won't forget in a while as I was kept awake all night by two very noisy hippos and a group of hyenas!
