Serengeti Simba Lodge Location Map

Serengeti Simba Lodge is a small property set on top of a rocky outcrop (kopje), offering stunning views over the endless Serengeti plains in every direction. The lodge is located just outside the National Park in the Ikona Wildlife Management Area near the Grumeti River and Grumeti Reserves.

It lies on the path of the great Serengeti migration, so it's possible to see wildebeest, zebra and Thompson’s gazelle from the lodge as they make their way towards better grazing - sometimes with ravenous big cats in pursuit or crocodiles lurking in wait at river crossings.

Guests can get together in the communal areas which include the lounge, bar and dining spaces, opening out on to a deck. And the magic goes on - there's an infinity pool with a flagstone terrace and yet more breathtaking views, especially at sunset. Every evening there's a campfire. Visitors can mingle with the locals at nearby Robanda village, and dance troupes will come to the lodge on request.

Activities include day game drives in the Park, night game drives, bush breakfasts, lunches and sundowners.

The tented rondavels are built on solid stone foundations and each has an attached bath and outdoor shower, allowing guests to experience the romance of camping with the security of a permanent structure. In addition, there's a Stone House with 6 rooms and 2 family suites.

Every tent is beautifully and simply decorated with local fabrics and hardwood furniture. Sleeping comfort is assured with mosquito nets. Each of the tented rondavel’s has a private wooden deck where visitors can watch the sun rise and set or gaze over the majesty of the Serengeti Plains. Whilst the 6 Stone House rooms don’t have a wooden deck they have unparalleled views of the Serengeti.

General Information For Guests

All rooms and tents are beautifully and simply decorated with local fabrics and hard wood furniture, and the beds all have mosquito nets. Full amenities are provided including a secure safe and rooms are solar powered with solar heated water. A whistle is also provided in case you need to alert the security guards.

The common area of the lodge houses the reception, lounge, bar, dining room, viewing deck, pool with sun deck and the campfire area. There is free Wi-Fi in the inside common areas.

Due to the solar electrical system, it’s not possible to use a hair dryer at Serengeti Simba Lodge. It is requested that you don’t attempt to plug in a hair dryer as in all likelihood it will blow the system resulting in loss of power to the entire lodge.

As the solar lighting may be dimmer than you’re used to, it is highly recommended you bring a headlamp or book-light for reading in bed at night.

There is a power strip for battery charging that’s live when the lodge generator is on (approximately 6 hours per day). There is also a 24-hour charging station at reception.
