The Serengeti
Hidden among the rocky outcrops or kopjes of the vast, internationally renowned Serengeti Plains is the Serengeti Migration Camp, which exudes a decadence reminiscent of old Africa. The camp is located next to the famous Grumeti River which is home to resident hippos that bark and wallow their days away,
Although the camp has a colonial feel, it is also very open and rustic, and has managed to maintain a balance between being natural and in touch with its surroundings, whilst also having a very stylish edge.
The split level main guest lounge, cigar bar, restaurant, sundecks and swimming pool are perched among the outcrops and overlook the vast and rugged landscapes that are home to the world's greatest mammal migration.
The dining experience at Serengeti Migration Camp is on a separate deck overlooking the Ndasiata Hills and the Grumeti River. Dine under canvas or al-fresco under the brilliant African skies.
This area of the Serengeti is especially exciting to visit during the months of July and August, or possibly around November, when the great wildebeest migration is likely to be in the area.
The camp offers morning and an afternoon game drives, but you can also head out with a packed lunch for a full day safari as well, giving you the chance to explore further and deeper into the National Park.
Another great way to explore the stunning diversity of the Serengeti is on foot, where you will be accompanied by a professional walking Safari Guide who knowledge of local flora, fauna, culture and history is unmatched.
Richly furnished throughout, the 20 spacious and luxurious tents have been carefully placed to provide privacy and blend into the surrounding bushveld. Surrounded by a 360 degree veranda deck, each guest tent also overlooks the Grumeti River and its resident hippos.
