The Serengeti
Located on the eastern edge of the Central Serengeti Plains, far away from the noise and disturbance of the well-travelled tourist circuits, sits the secluded Sametu Camp.
Situated near the legendary Sametu and Barafu Kopjes, the camp has panoramic views of the wide open savannah plains and also of the Ngarenanyuki River which meanders nearby. The river attracts wildlife year round, and guests can be assured of excellent game viewing due to the resident populations of large herds of plains game (giraffe, zebra and antelope), which in turn attract predators to the area such as lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena. Elephants are also frequent visitors to the riverbanks, as are hippo.
Twice a year the area plays host to the great wildebeest and zebra migration, offering guests staying over this time a truly unforgettable safari experience.
The camp features 8 luxury tents, 8 luxury suites and 2 family suites. Each tent has a private verandah and an en-suite bathroom with running water from a marble-topped single basin vanity, a separate hot shower area elevated on teak wood flooring and an enclosed private flush toilet. Each tent is also furnished with a comfortable sitting area complete with a hand-carved solid wood coffee table, cosy upholstered side chairs and a quaint writing desk for journaling about the day’s events.
The family tents consist of two separate en-suite bedrooms.
The main guest areas consist of a dining tent, and a relaxing lounge and bar area - all located in the center of the camp. The firepit is where all guests gather as the sun goes down to enjoy a sundowner drink around the blazing fire and reminise on their day's adventures.
