Sambora Lodge is situated in Kiningi, just a short 15 minute drive from the Volcanoes National Park entrance where you can trek through the rainforest to witness Rwanda's endangered gorillas in their natural habitat.
This exclusive experience, starting from the Park headquarters, ensures an intimate encounter limited to a mere 8 visitors per group. The day begins early, with visitors matched to gorilla families based on fitness levels for a trek that could last up to 8 hours through challenging terrain. Expert guides, trackers, and porters accompany the journey, making it accessible and enriching. Armed rangers ensure security, underscoring the commitment to preserving these incredible creatures and ensuring an unforgettable, responsible adventure.
Once you have found your gorilla family, you are allowed one hour with them only before returning to the lodge for a relaxing drink around the central fire pit before dinner is served.
Nestled in tropical gardens with views of surrounding volcano peaks, the rustic furnishings of the 4 rooms creates an inviting ambience fostering relaxation and a sense of well-being. There is also one family cottage which can sleep up to 4 adults and 2 children.
