Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is located in Lemala Hill on the eastern rim of Ngorongoro Crater.

This natural wonder is the largest unflooded, intact volcanic caldera in the world. The actual crater is about 20 km across and 600 meters deep, and covers 300 square kilometres. Within the rim there are an estimated 30,000 animals, making this one of the densest concentration of wildlife within Africa.  The dramatic descent to the Ngorongoro Crater floor commences within just 5 minutes of leaving the lodge.

As well as game drives down into the Crater, guests staying here can also enjoy morning wildlife walks around the Crater with a resident naturalist. Other activities include day trips to Olduvai Gorge - the 'Cradle of Mankind', and one of the most important and controversial Paleolithic finds in recent history; a visit to neighboring Empakaai Crater, a 300-meter deep crater dominated by a flamingo-frosted soda lake; and visits to a selection of authentic Maasai villages.

There are 96 rooms in total, and most boast magnificent views into the Ngorongoro Crater. The spacious bedrooms contain 2 queensized beds, and each room is en-suite.

All meals are served in the main restaurant and are prepared in international and local flavours by professionally trained chefs. After meals, guests can take time to relax in the lodge gardens overlooking the crater or in the main lounge with cup of tea or coffee.

General Information For Guests

All rooms have air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower, a minibar, a hair dryer, and an in-room safe. All rooms also have 2 queensize beds and are wheelchair accessible.

The main lodge has a swimming pool, a gift shop and Wi-Fi in the public areas.

Outdoor dining can be arranged (pre-booked).

A laundry service and a babysitting service can be arranged - additional cost.
