Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park
Only 280 km north of Durban, the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park covers 96,000 hectares and is renowned for its variety of bird and animal life.
There have been over 300 bird species recorded, and cheetah, wild dog, the Big 5 and many species of antelope and other plains game including giraffe and zebra inhabit the Park, offering the visitor a varied self-drive game viewing experience.
The Park is most famous for its population of white rhino, of which there are about 1,600, and it is practically impossible to visit the Park without seeing one - if this happens, then you are extremely unlucky!
The excellent road infrastructure means that self-driving is easy in a 2WD, or you can arrange to go on a guided game drive.
Centrally situated in the iMfolozi section, Mpila Camp commands magnificent views of the Wilderness area.
Twelve single-room thatched rest huts accommodate 4 people each. This section of the camp is self catering and guests prepare their own food in a central kitchen. Communal ablution blocks are situated close by.
Mpila also has 2 self-contained 3-bedroomed cottages, each accommodating up to 7 people, with a cook on hand to prepare food supplied by guests.
For smaller groups, there are also 6 self-catering chalets which accommodate 5 people each. These have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and a lounge/dining room.
The Safari Tented Camp at Mpila consists of 2-bedded and 4-bedded units, all with en-suite bathrooms. An optional third bed is available in each tent on request. Each unit has a verandah and is electrified. A fully equipped kitchen and dining area is connected to each tent by a wooden boardwalk. Barbecue facilities are available. These units are self-catering and are serviced daily.

:Bring casual summer clothes. A warm jersey/sweater would be useful for the cooler morning and evening temperatures. Cotton clothing in neutral colours is recommended and keep whites to a minimum, as white attracts certain bugs at night! Shorts are ideal for the warm midday periods.
Sun block / sun hat / sunglasses / lip balm are a good idea when out on game drives in the sun.
Insect repellent.
Cameras, binoculars and your favourite film.
Video camera and a spare battery (batteries can be recharged in your room).
A Field Guide so that you can identify the animals and birds that you see more easily.
Always make sure that you have food and drink in the car with you.::
