Masai Mara
Mara River Lodge commands one of most spectacular views in the Masai Mara National Reserve - the lodge lies on the Mara River at the edge of the reserve and overlooks deep pools where crocodiles and hippos bask all day. The lodge has a one kilometre private river stretch.
Painted in traditional Maasai red ochre and lit by hundreds of lanterns, the lodge makes an immediate impression of the local surroundings. Guests are met by Masai warriors in full regalia. The lodge is surrounded by indigenous trees and plants and it blends with the environment combining the best of nature.
Game drives are provided in custom built 4x4s if you are on a fly-in package, or with your own private driver-guide if you are on a drive-in package. Go out in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino - Africa's Big 5 - plus plains game such as impala, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest.
Each of the 82 rooms is a haven of style and serenity, complete with a balcony and private bathroom. Even greater grandeur can be experienced by booking one of the 2 suites.
The elegant blue water swimming pool provides all guests with the opportunity of respite from the tropical daytime temperatures. A cooling dip before breakfast, lunch or dinner works wonders for the appetite. The famous Hippo Bar and Poolside Terraces provides a pleasant natural ambiance during the day for relaxing and soaking up the hot sun in friendly Kenyan atmosphere.
The View Point Bar also offers a spectacular view of the Mara River and the animals.

Our first Safari experience was amazing and will certainly be returning to experience another in 2017. Our Driver/Guide John was truly amazing and made our holiday magical, very punctual, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. Whilst all places provided a good services, our favourite were Samburu Sopa and Mara River Lodge purely to the exceptional hospitality received from arrival to departure and would like to return to both lodges again.
