Lerai Safari Camp

Lerai Safari Camp is the only permanent safari camp in the 5,000 acre Olerai Conservancy of the greater Masai Mara ecosystem.

Barely 15 miles north of Tanzania’s Serengeti National park and just west of the Masai Mara National Reserve, it’s an area teaming with African wildlife and migratory pathways for wildebeest, zebra, elephant and antelopes.

With your knowledgeable Masai guide, embark on game drives and explore every corner of this unscathed region in search for the continents greatest wild animals, from buffalo, giraffe, hyena and a colourful variety of birdlife. Lion and cheetah move in and out of the territory, but are often sighted since the Olerai plains are perfect hunting grounds.

Finish the day with a delicious sundowner while watching the sun set over the acacia-dotted savannah.

In the evenings, head out on a night drive in the conservancy and see all sorts of nocturnal wildlife from spring hares, porcupine, bush baby, and maybe even pangolin if you're lucky.

In addition, the camp offers massages, Masai cultural excursions, walking safaris, hot air balloon safaris and horse riding (additional cost).

The camp consists of 6 well appointed safari tents with large bathrooms and separate showers, each set out along the banks of a stream. The interiors express the beauty and style of a traditional East African safari.

The camp lounge and dining area overlook a seasonal river and the surrounding plains, and from here guests can enjoy access to iMac computers and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Rates Include

Game Package: Masai Mara Reserve fees; Conservancy fees; all meals; return airstrip transfers from Ol Kiombo; soft drinks, house wine, selected spirits, gin and tonic, and mineral water; shared day and evening/night game drives with a Lerai Safari Camp guide; one full day shared visit to the Mara Reserve; and sundowners from scenic viewing points are included.

Children Policy

Children aged 8 years and older are welcome. Rates available on request.

General Information For Guests

All of the tents are en-suite with a separate shower and W/C. They also have a safe deposit box. In-room charging facilities are available in all rooms at specific hours.

The camp has a bar lounge and dining area. iMacs are available to use here and complimentary Wi-Fi is also provided.

Activities that are available at Lerai include morning and afternoon/evening game drives and a full day excursion to the Masai Mara Reserve. 

Activities that are available at an additional cost include walking safaris, massages, Masai cultural visits, hot air balloon safaris and horse rides.

Hair dryers are available in camp (only in specific hours)

The game viewers can fit a maximum of 6 guests per vehicle.

A laundry service is available (additional cost).

Early check-in and late check-out are also available (subject to availability).
