Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Lake Masek Tented Lodge is located just south of the border of the southern Serengeti National Park in the northwest Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This unique location is witness to the annual wildebeest migration which takes place from December to April each year. There is resident Big 5 game all year round in the area.
The lodge is eco-friendly as all the electric power is supplied by solar panels and water is collected during the rainy season. All the products used are biodegradable in order to ensure that the environment is kept pristine.
The main guest area has a lounge and dining area and a large verandah overlooking the lake the camp is named after. The lounge is decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs grouped together to create intimacy. Meals are served in the dining area or on the verandah.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, balloon safaris during the migration period, and the opportunity to walk together with an experienced Masai guide who will introduce guests to their culture and everyday activities. In addition, visits to a Masai house (boma) can also be arranged.
The lodge has 20 comfortable tents with en-suite facilities. Each tent is built on a raised wooden platform with a verandah from which guests can observe the wildlife visiting Lake Masek. One of the tents can sleep up to 4 people, making it ideal for families.
The bathroom area is separated from the bedroom area by way of a screen, and has twin wash basins, a standalone bath and an outside shower for showering under the stars.
