La Pirogue

Situated on the island’s west coast, La Pirogue lies on one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius and overlooks more than a kilometre of immaculate white sand that fringes a beautiful turquoise lagoon.

On offer are a variety of sports and leisure activities free of charge including tennis, mountain bike excursions, snorkelling, kayaking, stand up paddle, hopping on board glass-bottomed boat trips and wind-surfing. For an additional cost, you can also enjoy dolphin watching excursions, diving, water skiing, wake boarding, mono skiing, big game fishing, and tube or banana rides. Sports and fitness activities at La Pirogue include a fitness centre, air-conditioned gym and daily exercise classes.

The resort boasts a variety of restaurants and bars. La Pirogue's main restaurant has it all - from destination-inspired themed dinner buffets to Mauritian delicacies, or visit the seafood restaurant which offers an elegant menu. The informal beach cafe is perfect for a lazy lunch or a relaxed dinner just a stone's throw from the exquisite sugar-white beach.

Every evening, you are invited to dance as La Pirogue swings to the rhythm of its in-house orchestra. The varied events calendar ensures that different shows are put on several times a week.

The Aura Spa offers a range of treatments including massages and facials.

La Pirogue is made up of charming air-conditioned bungalows that open onto a coconut grove and the turquoise lagoon. Colourful interiors, warm wood and authentic thatch are key elements of the rooms, and each bungalow has its own private terrace. 

La Pirogue's unique architectural style is inspired by the eponymous traditional Mauritian fishing boats, and everything here recalls the form of these famous vessels - from the main building inspired by a white sail caught by the wind to the thatched bungalows built with local volcanic rocks.

General Information For Guests

All rooms are located at ground level and feature a private terrace. They also offer LCD flatscreen TV with satellite channels in 4 languages, individually controlled air conditioning, electronic room safes and tea/coffee making facilities.

The Beach Pavilions are just meters from the beach and offer views of the lagoon and ocean from the private terrace. The Deluxe Beach Pavilions consist of two interconnecting Beach Pavilions.

The Garden Bungalows have a private patio overlooking a lush coconut grove. The Garden Family Bungalows consist of two interconnecting Garden Bungalows. The Premium Garden Bungalow is set in a more secluded location amongst a tropical coconut grove with ocean views from the private terrace.

The Senior Suite Pavilion has a private gazebo on the beach plus exclusive butler service.

The resort has a selection of restaurants and bars, a spa, gym and multiple swimming pools. There is also a music studio. Note: Sports shoes are compulsory in the gym and children under 16 are not allowed in the gym. The dress code in the evenings in the bars/restaurants is 'resort chic'.

The free water activities include glass bottom boat rides, pedal boats, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing, aqua zumba, and coral farming experiences. For a supplement cost, guests can also enjoy scuba-diving (PADI courses are also available), big-game fishing, super tube rides, giant catamaran outings, and dolphin-discovery excursions.

Free land activities include golf at Ile aux Cerfs, yoga and stretching classes, giant chess, jogging, football, ping pong, beach volleyball and badminton. Additional activities such as tennis lesson, hiking in the Black River National Park, and quad biking/zip wiring at the Casela Nature Park are also available at an extra cost.

There is free high speed Wi-Fi internet access in the rooms and in the resort's main guest areas.

The Sun Kids Club offers a world of fun and entertainment for kids from 2-11 years. Numerous fun activities, as well as special menus, buffets and barbecues specifically prepared for the kids twelve hours a day. Children of 2-3 years old need to be accompanied by a parent or a babysitter; professionally trained nannies are available on request at a fee. The Teens Club is the ideal meeting-place for guests aged 12 to 17 and offers an array of sports activities, outings, excursions and special evenings for teenagers. Open from 09:30 to 22:00.
