Kichaka Lodge is ideally situated just over one hour from Port Elizabeth airport. Guests can land at the airport, enjoy a comfortable drive in luxury transfer and within the hour be relaxing, cocktail in hand, overlooking the magnificent Eastern Cape bush and Big 5 game.
Experienced rangers maximise every opportunity to ensure exceptional viewing during your game drive on this established 10,500 hectare game reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. Excellent sightings of lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo, as well as cheetah, hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope are enjoyed on game drives across the open plains of the reserve.
The main lodge is constructed in stone and thatch which blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. It overlooks a large water hole popular with hippo, giraffe, elephant and countless other game. The lounge and dining areas have been constructed so as to give the best possible aspect over unspoilt bush, large terraces stretch over the waterhole provide a magnificent viewing deck. The terrace also extends into a small island creating an enchanting outdoor dining area.
You can even relax and enjoy a swim with the hippos in the rim-flow pool adjacent to the waterhole or just enjoy sun, cocktails and glorious views on the large pool terrace.
Each of the 10 exclusive suites at Kichaka lodge have been built to provide every amenity, attention to detail ensures unrivalled levels of sumptuous opulence. There are 7 bush-facing suites wich maximise the sense of truly 'being in the bush' and 3 water-facing suites which overlook the waterhole.
Each suite is built of stone and thatch and situated in secluded settings ensuring total privacy and a real sense of space. The suites are connected to the main lodge by walkways which wind through the bush.
Special care has been taken to ensure spectacular views from the lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Each suite has a lounge area with large glass sliding doors on two sides which open wide, making these rooms part of the surrounding bush. There is also a large viewing deck and private heated plunge pool.

Bush Walks / Walking Safaris
Guests under the age of 16 years and over 60 years are not permitted on guided bush walks. A guided bush walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.
Regardless of age, the final decision on whether a guest can join a bush walk remains with the guide and lodge manager.

Directions For Drivers
From Port Elizabeth: Follow the N2 from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown for 90 km. Turn left at the Kichaka sign and continue 3.5 km on the gravel road. You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left - proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka staff.
From Grahamstown: Follow the N2 from Grahamstown towards Port Elizabeth. Turn right at the Kichaka sign and continue 3.5 km on the gravel road. You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left - proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka staff.
General Information For Guests
The suites all have private plunge pools, baths, showers as well as his/hers basins. Room amenities include air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi internet connection, a fully stocked mini bar and hair dryers.
The suites are connected to the main lodge by walkways which wind through the natural bush.

Above the lounge is a library which overlooks the waterhole. This room provides a quiet place to curl up with your favorite book, or catch your favourite sporting events on the TV.
There is also a main rim-flow swimming pool adjacent to the waterhole.
Guided bush walks in the reserve can also be arranged (additional cost and can be booked on arrival).
The spa offers a range of different treatments and massages (additional cost). Treatments in the comfort of your own room can also be arranged.
