Impodimo Game Lodge is located on the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, which boasts 75,000 hectares of Big 5 game viewing territory.

Enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger on a custom made open game viewing vehicle. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to drink. A morning in the bush is not complete without a massage treatment on your private deck by one of the experienced massage therapists.

In the afternoon, head out again on another safari game drive, where you will stop to watch the sun set and enjoy your favourite sundowner drink. Once darkness descends, you set off for the drive back to the lodge, using a spotlight to search out the nocturnal creatures who now rule the bush. When you return to the lodge, you will have time to freshen up quickly before you are treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine for dinner - maybe in the open air boma around the fire.

The lodge has an air conditioned underground hide, which is accessed by a tunnel with walls lined with photography and art. The hide offers a well-stocked refrigerator, coffee machine and tea station, bean bags to place camera equipment on, and lounging areas with a library of books. Viewing windows have one-way glass, enhancing game-viewing.

Each of the 8 glass fronted luxury suites enjoy uninterrupted views over the reserve from a private deck.

There is also a 2 bedroomed Deluxe/Family Suite which can sleep up to 4 adults and 2 children, comprising of 2 en-suite rooms joined by a central lounge and dining area. The suite also has a private viewing deck overlooking the waterhole, and a private plunge pool fitted with a safety net when not in use for guests staying here with younger children. This unit comes with the services of a private guide, tracker, and open 4x4 game viewer. For an additional cost, the services of a private chef and butler can also be included, meaning all your meals can be enjoyed in the privacy of the unit making this an exclusive experience that takes the safari experience to a whole new level.

Children Policy

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under 6 are not allowed on game drives UNLESS the Deluxe Safari Villa is booked (whereby the family then has a dedicated game vehicle for their sole use) - otherwise younger children can join a 'kiddies bumble' game drive which is a much shorter game drive. Children under 16 are not allowed on bush walks. Children under the age of 6 years are not permitted in the boma - babysitting services can be arranged

Bush Walks / Walking Safaris

Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on guided walks in the reserve. Guests over 60 years old wishing to join a guided walk are required to have a letter or certificate from their doctor confirming they are in good health and are physically fit to do the walk. A  guided walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.

Regardless of age or the provision of a doctors certificate, the final decision on whether a guest can join a guided walk remains with the guide and lodge manager.

Children of all ages are welcome at Impodimo and the lodge loves to go out of their way to ensure that kids and parents both have an unforgettable safari experience.

Their kiddies programme is tailored to the different ages and can be fun and educational for all. Each child receives a personalized welcome pack with goodies and activities to do in between safaris.

Children over the age of 6 years are welcome on the game drives, however, families with younger children need not fear that their kids will miss out, as the lodge offers a ‘kiddies bumble’ which is shorter and aimed at keeping the little one’s attention.

Directions For Drivers

PLEASE NOTE: The main gates open at 06:00 and close at 18:00. Guests who arrive after this time will not be allowed to self-drive to the lodge. The lodge will send a representative to escort guests to the lodge at an additional cost. SUGGESTION: Refuel at Sun Village/Zeerust as there is no fuel available inside the reserve. DO NOT follow your GPS after Zeerust/Sun City - it will take you on the wrong roads.

From Johannesburg Airport via N4 tar road: Follow the R21 north, to Pretoria (Tshwane) through Kempton Park. After 40 km follow N1 north to Pretoria (Tshwane), Pietersburg (Polokwane). After about 12 km, take N4 west into Pretoria (Tshwane), to Rustenburg or Hartebeespoort Dam. Follow the N4 to Hartebeespoort Dam.

Take the N4 to Zeerust past Brits, Rustenberg, and Swartruggens. Zeerust is approximately 220 km from Pretoria. In Zeerust turn right on the R47/R49 to Gaborone/Madikwe Game Reserve. After +/- 90 km you will see a sign on the right for the Abjaterskop Gate of the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Continue on this road past the Abjaterskop Gate for 7 km. You will find a small thatched gate (Wonderboom Gate) on the right into the reserve - turn in here.

Once you are in the reserve, follow the signs to the lodge. Allow between 20-30 minutes to drive from the gate to the lodge.

Do not get out of your car until you reach the lodge. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.

From Sun City via N4 tar road: Turn right from as you leave Sun City onto the R565. After a few km you will come to a junction with the R565 to the left, and the R556 signposted straight ahead. Turn left here to keep on the R565 signposted Phokeng and Rustenberg, and it is 38 km from here to the junction with the N4 tar road.

When you reach the N4, turn right onto the road (signposted Swartruggens and Zeerust) and continue for around 130 km on this road to Zeerust. In Zeerust turn right on the R47/R49 and follow the directions as above.

From Johannesburg or Sun City via gravel roads: There is a gravel road from Sun City to Madikwe - this route is a lot shorter than the current tar road route, however as the roads are gravel and the signs to Madikwe are rather inconsistent, we would not really recommend this route to customers.

Should you wish to return to Sun City or Johannesburg using the gravel roads, the lodge will be able to supply you with a map and directions.

General Information For Guests

All rooms have a full en-suite bathroom and an outside shower, tea/coffee making facilities, a mini bar fridge, a room safe, climate control air conditioning system and a private deck.

The Deluxe/Family Suite has all the same amenities plus a private pool (fitted with a safety net) and lounge/dining room, and comes with the use of a private guide, tracker and open 4x4 game vehicle.

The lodge has a swimming pool and a curio/gift shop.

In-room spa treatments are available to book - please enquire at Reception.

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives with a dedicated ranger and tracker in an open 4x4 safari vehicle.  Bush walks can also be arranged with your ranger after breakfast. In the cooler winter months, guests are offered the opportunity to explore the other side of the Reserve with their ranger and tracker, whereby you will spend a full day out in the bush, stopping for a picnic lunch in the shade.

Limited Wi-Fi is available - the lodge offers a 100MB complimentary per stay per room, thereafter data is available for purchase.

If you are arriving/departing via FedAir, the lodge is a 20 minute drive away from the airstrip.
