Gorges Lodge and Little Gorges

Gorges Lodge and Little Gorges

Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe

Gorges Lodge and Little Gorges Location Map

Gorges Lodge and Little Gorges are both set right on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, some 200 awe-inspiring metres above the mighty Zambezi River. Whether you are enjoying a cup of coffee at sunrise, or a cool refreshment by the pool at sunset, you will be constantly drawn to the stunning vistas provided by this unique location.

Both are about a 30 minute drive from the Victoria Falls town centre, close enough to allow guests to easily take part in any number of the exciting activities that are on offer, but far enough away to give everyone the chance to relax, enjoy the delicious homemade cuisine and a delectable African wine. As well as trips to the Falls, other activities include guided tours of the craft village, school tours (not available in April, August and December), gorge-edge walks or hikes, and sundowner cruises.

A pair of Verreaux's Eagles nest in the gorge and provide guests with amazing displays of their aerobatic skills and courtship rituals, often at eye level. Evenings are their hunting time so sit back with sundowners and snacks as these magnificent birds soar past on thermals whilst hunting in the gorge. The eagles are not the only birds resident here - lanner falcons, peregrine falcons and augur buzzards also call the gorge home and the interspecific interactions are a highlight when the eagles stray too close to the falcons' nests.

There are 10 chalets at Gorges Lodge, all of which are set in a landscaped garden. 4 of the chalets are double storey and the other 6 are single storey, all with private verandas that provide stunning views. The main guest area is built on a raised deck and includes a lounge, dining room and bar offering extraordinary views over the gorge into neighbouring Zambia.

Little Gorges is perched next to main Gorges Lodge, overlooking the dramatic junction of the Dibu Dibu River and the Zambezi. This charming camp consists of 5 luxury tents on wooden decks. The main guest area is stone under thatch and consists of a dining room, seating area and bar, all with views over the spectacular Dibu Dibu Gorge.
