Chobe National Park
Welcome to Chobe Bakwena Lodge, an eco-luxury retreat on the banks of the Chobe River.
Bakwena, which means ‘people of the crocodile’ in the local Setswana dialogue, embraces the surrounding culture and country as inspiration for its style and hospitality. Staff are members of the local villages and form part of the lodge's responsible tourism initiative through investing in local communities.
Whether you have come to unwind or to have a safari adventure, this is a perfect destination. Activities include game drives or river cruises in the Chobe, fishing trips, bird watching, nature walks, cultural tours and visiting Impalila Island with its giant baobabs.
Expect simple african-fusion dishes prepared from locally sourced ingredients and inspired by traditional Setswana cuisine. Once you’ve unwound and settled in you may want to join fellow guests in the main entertainment area with its lounge, restaurant and Rain Tree bar overlooking the river, or to cool off in the inviting swimming pool.
Chobe Bakwena has 10 River View Chalets, which are nestled in an indigenous riverine forest, each with a view of the magnificent Chobe River. Wake up to the sound of a fish eagle and fall asleep to the comforting grunt of a hippo, and relax during the day in the privacy of your own verandah and enjoy the beauty of Africa. There are also 5 Treetop Chalets which are elevated 3 meters on stilts above ground and wrapped in a Tree Canopy. These rooms, while very unique, do not have river views.
The Bakwena Honeymoon Suite is an incentive to take romance to a new level. A stand alone bath and air conditioning ensure ultimate comfort. Breathe in the good life on your private deck or indulge in a siesta on the delight of a day bed to the heart beat of Africa.
