Black Rhino Game Lodge

Black Rhino Game Lodge is a hidden treasure set within a Tamboti forest at the foot of an ancient volcanic crater within the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park.

Experienced game rangers take guests out on morning safaris in an open safari vehicle in search of Africa's Big 5 - rhino, leopard, buffalo, elephant and lion. Night game drives are also offered, as well as guided game walks. There is also a viewing hide.

Overlooking a busy waterhole, which is a hive of bird and animal activity and a favourite playground for elephant and buffalo, the main guest areas include an open plan lounge and dining areas which spill over onto shady timber decks.  There are also 3 plunge pools.

An ideal family retreat, Black Rhino Game Lodge boasts 18 spacious luxury suites. Each air-conditioned suite has a TV, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and expansive bathrooms including an outdoor shower. The private game viewing decks are the perfect spot to enjoy the tranquillity and excellent birding opportunities.

Rates Include

All meals; the Conservation fee; and morning/afternoon daily game drives are included. Gate entry fees are applicable and are payable on arrival.

Children Policy

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under the age of 6 years are not permitted on game drives, and children must be 12 years and older to join a guided walk.

Directions For Drivers

From Pretoria: Take the N1 north, exit onto the N4 direction Rustenburg. Travel along the N4 and take the R556 off ramp (Sun City/Pilanesberg National Park). Turn right at the stop, over the highway and head straight to Sun City.

Continue straight pass the Sun City Gate (right hand side) for approximately 5 km on the R556, passing the Sun Village Shopping Centre (right hand side). At the 4-way stop, turn right and travel approximately 30kms on the R565 Derdepoort road where you will find the entrance of Black Rhino Game Reserve on your right hand side.

It is a tar road all the way to the entrance of the reserve.

From Johannesburg and Sandton: Take the R512 past Hartebeestpoortdam till it connects to the N4, and use the directions from the N4 as mentioned above.

Each air conditioned suite has a lounge and offers a television, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities and expansive bathrooms including an outdoor shower.

The lodge consists of the boma, restaurant, bar, plunge pools, dining and lounge areas.

The lovely dining room extends onto various terraces and decks offering a choice of stunning settings to relax.

Activities available include 2 game drives per day and bird watching from a viewing hide.

Guided bush walks can also be arranged (additional cost).
