Where the booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores, where temperate high forest and fynbos roll down to the sea in an unspoilt verdant carpet, where ancient rivers carve their paths to the ocean down rocky ravines.

This, "the place of much water", is the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park. The heartland of the park stretches some 5km to sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish.

Dolphins frolic in the breakers, surfing and playing for the sheer joy of life, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale visits here, coming inshore to breed.

Accommodation at Storms River Mouth Rest Camp varies - visitors can stay in forest cabins, chalets, oceannettes or cottages.

There is a swimming pool for guests enjoyment, or swimming at the nearby small beach is safe.

The 'Spirit of Tsitsikamma' boat cruise up the Storms River Gorge gives visitors the opportunity to view the gorge and marvel at one of nature?s many wonders. Huge caverns are interspersed on either side of the river.

From Port Elizabeth: Take the N2 highway towards Knysna, and the Tsitsikamma National Park is accessed from here.

From Knysna: Take the N2 highway towards Port Elizabeth, and the Tsitsikamma National Park is accessed from here.



General Information For Guests

All accommodation is serviced daily and provided with bedding, towels and soap.

Gate opening and closing times: 06:00 to 19:30 (Security Hours 19:00 to 07:00). Overnight guests arriving after 18:00 should call the camp on +27 (0) 42 2811 607 - key(s) may be picked up at the gate with the security service.

Camp facilities include a shop where souvenirs and basic commodities may be purchased, an a la carte restaurant, also serving light refreshments,a laundromat and ironing room (flat-irons not supplied) and information desk. There is also a swimming pool.

There are no ATM facilities at the camp.

As outdoor lighting is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.

Scuba divers must present a valid certificate and supply own equipment.

Fuel is available at Storms River Bridge (approximately 25 km from Storms River Mouth Rest Camp) and at Nature's Valley.
