Kambaku Safari Lodge Location Map

Nestled in the heart of the renowned Timbavati Private Nature Reserve lies the Kambaku Safari Lodge. With lovely views over the unspoilt bush, abundant game and rustic ambience, Kambaku provides the ultimate escape. Dedicated staff cater to the individual needs of all guests, making it easy to completely unwind and immerse yourself in the restorative powers of nature.

Morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of Africa's Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

A great place to while away the hours in between game drives is near the pool on the sun deck, where you can relax with a good book and a cocktail, or have a dip in the sparkling pool to cool off from the African sun.

Dinner at Kambaku is a true African affair, accompanied by the milky way, a large bonfire and lanterns in the outdoor boma, which is an African name for 'Eating Place'. Sample fine wines and bush cuisine while listening to the night calls of the African bush. After dinner, some fireside bush stories from the rangers is a must before retiring to your chalet for the night.

Accommodation at Kambaku Safari Lodge comprises of 8 thatched, en-suite chalets in total situated in a semi-circle overlooking a waterhole, including a 2 bedroom family chalet.

To truly immerse yourself in the rustic bush experience, the chalets are equipped with lanterns for light as well as power points for your convenience, which are sustained by the eco-friendly battery bank system. Overhead fans provide welcome relief during summer and the gas geysers provide instant steamy hot water.

General Information For Guests

Each of the thatched chalets are en-suite with both a shower and bath. All the rooms have mosquito nets, overhead fans, hairdryers and an in-room safe.

The camp is eco-friendly, so is entirely dependent on solar energy minimising their carbon footprint on the natural environment. With this in mind, each room is equipped with soft lighting, overhead fans and although electricity is at a minimum, there are 220V power points to charge batteries and other devices.

The main guest areas include a lounge with fireplace, a bar, an elevated loft area, swimming pool, bar, library, an inside and outside dining area, viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and an open air boma. Wi-Fi is provided in the main reception.

The curio shop is stocked with a variety of carefully selected and proudly South African items and includes Kambaku mementos.

There is some mobile phone coverage for those who need to keep in touch with the outside world.

Days start just before sunrise, with a 3 hour game drive, which may include a guided bush walk if the opportunity presents itself. Afternoon game drives fade into sundowners, and end with a drive in the dark, where nocturnal animals, for example the bush baby, may be spotted. Each game vehicle seats up to 8 people.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club credit cards are accepted.
