The Masai Mara remains most famous for its annual wildebeest and zebra migration - undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary natural events on the planet. On this 3 night fly-in safari package, watch as the animals cross the rushing river waters, wrestling with rapids and currents while trying desperately to avoid the snapping jaws of hungry crocodiles. This is your chance to experience a once-in-a-lifetime experience like no other in Africa.
This itinerary features Ilkeliani Camp which has been designed to combine the old traditional safari style with a modern and fresh feel. Ilkeliani’s spacious Standard and Premium tented suites have been thoughtfully designed to provide all the little luxuries that enhance a safari, and each has commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. It is a permanent camp designed along eco-friendly principles and the ethos is to leave a minimum foot print on nature.
After a day of game viewing, enjoy a sundowner around the campfire while exchanging stories with other guests. Dinner by candelight completes your day, after which an askari will guide you to your tent.
After you have had your passports stamped by the Immigrations Officer, proceed to the Baggage Hall to collect your luggage and then go through Customs and exit the building onto the street outside, where our representative will be waiting to meet you, holding a signboard displaying your name. He will introduce you to your driver and you will then be transferred to Wilson Airport where you will check in for your morning flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Safarilink 01 (Light Aircraft): Fly from Wilson Airport (WIL) departing at 10:00 to Musiara Airstrip, arriving at 11:00
You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Ilkeliani Camp, where you can check into your room then enjoy lunch. For the next few days, you will enjoy morning and afternoon shared game drives with other guests in the company of your expert Masai driver-guide. He will know where the animals are that day, including where the last river crossings were made. As well as the Great Migration, resident prides of lion, cheetahs, leopard, spotted and striped hyena also roam the Mara plains, as do elephant, buffalo, the shyer rhino, giraffe, warthog and many species of antelope. Hippo and crocodiles abound in the nearby Mara and Talek River.
