Summary Of The Route and Costs
This 12 night trip really is one of the most premier experiences you can hope for. Taking in the magnificent Victoria Falls and enjoying the solitude of staying in a private concession within the Zambezi National Park, then staying in Botswana's first and only Relais & Chateaux property overlooking the crystal blue waters of a lagoon, flying to the very heart of the Okavango Delta, surrounded by palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland, and ending in the beautiful city of Cape Town, this is a holiday of outstanding quality from start to finish.
The first 2 nights are at Mpala Jena Camp, an exquisite and exclusive canvas tented camp located on a private concession within the Zambezi National Park. Overlooking a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi River shoreline, the 4 guest tents offer views of the river frontage, with Moroccan style influences throughout the decor. Decking in front of the tent leads to a private plunge pool with views of the calming and peaceful flowing waters of the Zambezi River. During your stay you will have the opportunity to enjoy a one day excursion into Victoria Falls town including a visit to the thunderous and impressive mass of falling water on a tour of the Victoria Falls.
You then fly to the remote Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana. Zarafa Camp is recognised as being one the the top 100 lodges in the world by the prestigious Tattler Magazine. Overlooking endless floodplains, the views are truly breathtaking. Go in search of the wildlife on day and night drives, or head into the bush on foot with your guide.
Then you are off to another remote location, this time in the Delta - the stunning Duba Plains. Game viewing in the dry season at Duba Plains is a dramatic experience as the vast open grasslands are often isolated from the mainland by deep waterways, thus creating the perfect hunting ground. Thousands of buffalo are hunted almost daily by up to 4 different lion prides and the area is famed for the clashes between these great animals seen regularly on game drives.
A short flight will take you back to Maun where you connect with a direct flight to Cape Town. Originally a private residence, the historic Ellerman House Cape Edwardian-style mansion features shaded verandas and terraced indigenous gardens overlooking the ocean. A highlight of Ellerman House is the owner’s extensive South African art collection spanning original works from the turn of the last century to current contemporary art, a separate collection of which is displayed in the Ellerman House Contemporary Art Gallery.
