Satao Elerai Camp

Amboseli National Park

Days 1 - 3: Amboseli National Park

Satao Elerai Camp Location Map

Satao Elerai Camp is located in a quiet, unspoilt, unique setting on a 5,000 acre private conservation area 12 km south east of Amboseli National Park at the foot of Africa's largest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

The camp looks down onto the Amboseli National Park in one direction and up to Mount Kilimanjaro in the other direction, giving clients what is arguably the best location of any camp in Amboseli.

One of the biggest advantages of Satao Elerai Camp is that being located on its own private conservation area guests have the chance to view wildlife in private surroundings. The Elerai conservation area offers grass plains and acacia woodland forest which are home to large elephant bulls, many giraffe and eland and a host of amazing bird life. Guests can enjoy spectacular bush sundowners with Kilimanjaro as your backdrop, night game drives and game walks on the conservancy - activities that are not available to the lodges located within the Park itself.  A trip to the Elerai Masai community also allows guests to see the Masai as they live traditionally.

You also have the option to enjoy game drives in the Amboseli National Park itself. Amboseli National Park offers the amazing Amboseli swamps with the large herds of elephants and buffalos and the unique aquatic bird species.

The camp has 12 luxury mountain-facing tents and 5 large luxurious lodge style suites. Both the tents and the suites are en-suite with the suites also having luxurious baths. Large sliding doors open out onto your own private verandah overlooking the plains below and Amboseli National Park.

Dinners at Satao Elerai Camp are served a la carte. On a clear night tables are set out on the terrace where guests can enjoy a meal under the stars. Regularly Mount Kilimanjaro will be clear early evening and can be seen lit up by the moon from your dinner table.

Kicheche Valley

Masai Mara

Days 4 - 7: Masai Mara

Kicheche Valley Location Map

Kicheche Valley is situated in the Naboisho Conservancy. This exclusive camp consists of just 6 luxury safari tents which lie amongst the trees and rocky outcrops and enjoy wonderful views of the game filled plains to the south.

Early morning and late afternoon are the most productive hours for game drives and the safari customised 4WD vehicles give everyone a perfect view. Watching wildlife at close range, but without encroaching on their space, is endlessly fascinating and the guides' instincts and experience provide superb photo opportunities of wild animals. Lion and leopard are frequently spotted, as are cheetah and even wild dog and rhino. Night game drives are also offered to enable guests the chance to observe lesser seen nocturnal species. The vehicles are fitted with a hand held spotlight and resident species include aardvark, genet, bat-eared fox, striped hyena, serval, honey badger and civet.

A different perspective is gained through escorted walks on the savannah. The guides will point out the spoor of a leopard, the nest of a rare bird or signs of recent migration activity that would pass unnoticed by the eyes of strangers.

Naboisho is also a bird watchers paradise, and several bird species rarely seen elsewhere in the Mara such as white headed buffalo weavers, northern white-crowned shrike, pygmy falcon, Von-der Deckens hornbills, bush pipits are commonly seen.

Each tent is spacious, and equipped with large beds, bedside tables, luggage racks, lounge sofa, desk and rugs. Bathrooms are en-suite and are equipped with a dresser, shower, flushing toilet and running water.
