Kanana’s private concession location allows guided walks, mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motor boating. It also offers private access by motorboat to one of the largest heronries not only in the Okavango Delta but Southern Africa and is an excellent area for birding with regular sightings of the Pels Fishing Owl.
The mokoros (canoes) are glass-bottomed, enabling you to view the underwater world of the delta.
Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy motorboat trips to some of the Okavango Delta’s best fishing spots, for a chance to experience the beautiful surroundings before landing a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish, African pike and sharp tooth catfish. The fishing season is from March through to December and basic equipment is supplied.
Credit cards are accepted.
A complimentary laundry service is also available.
Kanana has been awarded Eco Tourism level which is the top tier in the Botswana Ecotourism Grading.
Bush Walks / Walking Safaris
Guests aged 16 years and older are allowed on game walks.
A guided walk can last a couple of hours and involve walking over uneven terrain that may contain dangerous wildlife in potentially high temperatures. Guests may need to move quickly and for a sustained period through rough bush terrain if instructed to do so by their guide.
Regardless of age, the final decision on whether a guest can join a guided walk remains with the guide and camp manager.
