Kapama Southern Camp
Kapama Game Reserve
Days 1 - 3: Kapama Game Reserve
Kapama Southern Camp is situated on the southern most section of the 15,000 hectare Kapama Private Game Reserve, which is home to the Big 5 of the African bush - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino - and offers guests an unforgettable safari adventure with all the big game as well as 42 other mammal species and over 350 bird species.
Rise with the sun, wake up with coffee and then head out into the crisp morning on your morning drive to track down the tallest, the biggest, the fastest, the smallest and the slowest on the reserve. The night safari starts off with high tea before climbing onto your 4x4 vehicle and heading out into the bush. Spot the game making their way to the waterholes and preparing for the approaching nightfall. After sundowner drinks watching the sun settle beyond the horizon, the game drive proceeds with a flash light to spot the nocturnal creatures who own the night.
In between game drives, cool off in the pool, just perfect for those hot summer days or to refresh you after an exciting safari through the bush. Alternatively relax in the lounge with a good book and cool refreshment from the bar.
The 15 suites at Southern Camp have full en-suite bathrooms with picture windows to enjoy the surrounding scenery and birdlife. Private patios offer the opportunity to enjoy relaxing sundowners while game watching at the same time. There is also 7 villas, which each have their own private lap pool, inside and outside showers, and a romantic fireplace open to the bathroom and bedroom. The 3 Family Villas have a separate connected bedroom for children.
Breakfast and lunch are served in the elegant, open-sided dining room, which offers an enchanting dining experience. The wine cellar is a focal point in the room, with the fine South Africa estate collection showcased behind frameless glass. The traditional outdoor boma is the favoured setting for dinner, weather permitting. Illuminated by firelight and starry skies, diners will enjoy diverse and tasteful cuisine conjured by chefs right before them.
