Summary Of The Route and Costs

Combining 2 properties from the famous Robin Pope Safaris portfolio, this itinerary will ensure an unforgettable safari holiday. You will experience the wonders of Africa's secluded wilderness, the outstanding wildlife, including leopard, lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, wild dog, hippo, to name a few, more than 450 species of birds, as well as the mighty Victoria Falls.

You begin with 2 nights at Nkwali Camp, situated on the banks of the Luangwa River on Robin Pope Safaris’ private land just outside the South Luangwa National Park. Guests can enjoy day or night drives in open top Toyota Landcruisers, affording you total 360 degree vision. There is also the option to swop a game drive for a walk, led by a knowledgeable guide, and escorted by an armed National Park scout. The guiding team is very passionate and will certainly impart some amazing bush insights at a level that will surprise you.

Your next RPS camp, Tena Tena, is synonymous with Robin Pope Safaris as it was the first camp which Robin opened and ran and has become a favourite amongst many safari lovers over the years. The tents are very private with plenty of space between them and each with its own window onto a magnificent stretch of the Luangwa River where the hippos wallow and the lions roam. With plenty of different seating areas there is space to relax and unwind whilst reflecting on the day's safari, before sitting down to a beautiful dinner on the banks of the Luangwa, under the stars and enjoying the sounds of the African night.

You then leave the RPS portfolio as you head to the Lower Zambezi, where you enjoy 2 nights at the intimate and private Old Mondoro safari camp, which exudes charm and charisma. The concept of Old Mondoro is simple - to provide guests with an authentic, intimate Zambian safari that concentrates on the wildlife and bush experience, whilst not forgoing any creature comforts or service. Old Mondoro is a destination in its own right that also offers some of the most prolific leopard sightings to be had in Africa - no one could want for more.

Finally, you end at Waterberry Zambezi Lodge, situated upriver from the iconic Victoria Falls. Spanning 1.6 kilometers along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, this immense body of water undergoes dramatic transformations throughout the year. During the early part of the year, when water levels are at their peak, the Zambezi River unleashes its breathtaking might and releasing colossal sprays that create expansive double rainbows, painting the sky with vivid hues. In the dry season, which typically sets in from late October, the massive 100 meter deep canyon is almost bare.
