The Serengeti
Ubuntu Migration Camp is a small and traditional canvas mobile safari camp which follows the colossal herds of wildebeest as they journey around the Serengeti, moving between 3 key sites. The camp is designed to leave no trace when it is dismantled and moved to its new location along with the migrating herds.
From mid November to mid March, Ubuntu is positioned in the Southern Serengeti plains, and is ideally placed to witness about 2 million wildebeest congregating as they arrive back from the north to feed on the nutrious grassy plains here.
Come February, the wildebeest give birth to the new generation, and the plains are alive with wobbly calves closely following their mothers. In close proximity are the ever-watchful big cats, always on the look out for a quick snack.
Once the calves are strong enough to begin the journey with their mothers, the herd sets off on their arduous journey northwards again.
The camp is designed to give you a wild and authentic Serengeti safari experience balanced with a luxurious and comfortable experience. With just 8 tents to look after (including one 2 bedroom family tent which sleeps 4 people), the close-knit and friendly team ensure that hospitality, great food and a wonderfully relaxed environment remains the essence of a stay here.
Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a hot-water safari bucket shower and a flushing toilet.
The open-plan main area spills into the surrounding wilderness with impressive views of the landscape stretch to the horizon. Here you can spend a lazy afternoon watching game on the sprawling plains.
Breakfast and lunch are served under canvas in the dining tent mere steps away, while dinner is often enjoyed under the stars beside the glowing embers of the campfire, to the soundtrack of the Serengeti’s nocturnal animals.
