Thorntree River Lodge

Set inside the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, only a few kilometers upstream from the world famous Victoria Falls, Thorntree River Lodge offers an unparalleled and quality experience. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, it is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa.  Elephants occasionally wander through camp, always bringing an element of joy and surprise to guests!

The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area, which in turn flows into a temperature controlled wine cellar stocked with the finest wines. A gym and spa overlook the mighty Zambezi River, and there is a small library with Wi-Fi.

The communal deck is set on the edge of the stunning riverside, and is home to a sunken boma area and an infinity pool. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing a boat, and help to achieve a seamless feel between river and land.

After a refreshing sundowner drink while watching an exquisite African sunset, spend your evening sharing stories around the fire before enjoying the African inspired fine dining experience.

The lodge boasts 12 suites in total. Each room has its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool. Four of the suites can be turned into Family Rooms, as one suite can be linked to another by an interleading passageway.

Activities include visits to Victoria Falls UNESCO World Heritage site (mainly to the Zambia side but also across the to Zimbabwean side in the dry season, cultural village visits, private sunset river cruises, fishing expeditions (on a 'catch and release' basis), canoeing and game drives.

One 'not to be missed' activity is the white rhino tracking on foot in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The animals are under 24 hour protection by the rangers, and you will be able to get up and close to them on a rhino tracking walk that is operated sustainably, with the utmost respect for one of Africa's most iconic species.

Rates Include

All meals; transfers from/to Livingstone Airport; the Conservation levy; and one activity per day are included (the activity is a choice of either game drive, sunset cruise or a tour of Victoria Falls). PLEASE NOTE: Park fees are NOT included in this rate - these are payable if applicable during your stay.

Children of all ages are most welcome and the celebrated kids club, the Ngwana Club, will ensure hours of fun for your kids of all ages.
