Tuskers Bush Lodge is situated right next to the Elephant Sanctuary at Hartbeespoort.
The Elephant Sanctuary hosts a unique and fully guided elephant interaction programme. Guest numbers are limited to ensure personal attention and maximum elephant interaction for each guest, making this a truly memorable and enriching experience. Visitors can learn more about elephant habits, behaviour, different personalities and anatomy through up-close and personal interaction. You get an opportunity to touch, feed and even walk trunk-in-hand with these magnificent animals.
The Elephant Sanctuary's elephant walk is unique because you don't just walk with or alongside the animals - you actually walk trunk-in-hand with them. Now imagine walking hand-in-hand with a child or loved one, then remind yourself that in this case the other hand is a trunk!
The main focus of The Elephant Sanctuary is to educate people about all aspects of elephants and elephant husbandry. If your guide discuss the elephant's ear, for example, you will get the opportunity to actually touch one and to get a closer look at the smoothness of the skin on the back of the ear compared to the rough skin on the outside.
The main lodge consists of 6 rooms, situated just a short distance from the elephant stables.
There is a communal patio and deck area for relaxing/reading, overlooking the swimming pool and bush. Other than what's on offer at the sanctuary itself, there are plenty of other activities nearby, including tree-top canopy slides, horse riding, quad bikes, cheetah sanctuary, cycling, walking trails and wine tasting.

Directions For Drivers
From Johannesburg: Take the Brits R512 (past Lanseria Airport) to Hartbeespoort Dam. Cross dam over open bridge and turn right at T-junction, on to four-way stop at the Craft Market (garage on right hand side and one opposite as well). Turn left and travel 2.5 km to The Elephant Sanctuary. The property is on the left side on the road.
From Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport: Leave the airport following signs for Kempton Park/R21/Pretoria. Head north on the R21 and after 31 km use the left 2 lanes to take exit 143 for the N1 northbound towards Polokwane. Stay on the N1 for 21km, and then use the left 2 lanes to take junction 156 for the N4 towards Rustenburg. Continue on the N4 for approximately 49 km, and then turn left onto the R512. Follow the R512 for 4 km and then turn left onto the R104. Tuskers Bush Lodge will be on the right after approximately 2.5 km.
From Entabeni Safari Conservancy: Take the N1 South towards Pretoria and Johannesburg. Leave the N2 at junction 156 for the N4 towards Rustenbeurg. Continue on the N4 for approximately 49 km, and then turn left onto the R512. Follow the R512 for 4 km and then turn left onto the R104. Tuskers Bush Lodge will be on the right after approximately 2.5 km.

Tuskers Bush Lodge is situated right next to the Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort, and guests are advised to book in advance if they plan to visit the sanctuary.
