The Cabanas

The refreshing, laid back ambience of the Cabanas at Sun City is the immediate impression one receives upon welcome. The most relaxed and casual of all the hotels at Sun City, the Cabanas offer informal yet comfortable accommodation.

The reception area is spacious with a balconied foyer overlooking the Palm Terrace. Attractive planters placed around the tiled floor, and the lightly textured walls topped with a ceiling frieze of tropical foliage and flowers, all contribute to an immediate holiday feeling.

Sun City Cabanas offer 2 dining choices - the chefs excel at creating imaginative theme style buffets at the Palm Terrace and everyday a full breakfast buffet and dinner buffet is offered. Light and scrumptious daytime fare is served at the Grande Pool Bar.

Kamp Kwena is a specially designed entertainment paradise for kids of all ages, and offers a fully supervised programme of activities and facilities at Kwena's Castle, right on the lawns of the Cabanas - including an adventure playground, animal farmyard and a fully equipped play centre. A short stroll across the luscious green lawns of the Cabanas brings you to Waterworld - where there is jet-skiing, windsurfing, water-skiing and for those who want a leisurely booze-cruise, there's a barge to take you around the lake at sundowner time.

The Cabanas has 380 rooms and guests can choose between standard and luxury rooms.

All rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with quality flat screen TVs with selected DSTV channels, tea and coffee making facilities and electronic safes and telephones. A major bonus for families is the mini refrigerator, which is ideal for storing baby bottles, milk and beverages.

The standard rooms offer a shower-en-suite, whilst their luxury counterparts feature a full bathroom.

Directions For Drivers

From Johannesburg Airport: Leave the airport and follow the signs for the R21 north to Pretoria. After approximately 45 km the R21 merges with the N1, continue on this road until you reach the junction with the N4 Toll Road. Take the N4 westbound towards Pretoria, Brits, and Rustenberg. Continue on the N4 for approximately 55 km (past the Brits turn-off) until you reach the junction with the R556 signposted Pilanesburg/Sun City. Continue on the R556 for approximately 75 km until you reach the entrance to Sun City.

From Sandton (Johannesburg): Leave Sandton on Sandton Drive heading towards William Nicol Drive. Turn right at the junction with William Nicol Drive, and contine to head North for approximately 8 km until you reach the flyover over the N1 Western Bypass. Continue along William Nicol Drive until you reach the Monte Casino on your right, and the Fourways Mall on ahead and on your left. Turn left off William Nicol onto Cedar Road just before the Fourways Mall, and then at the T junction at the end of Cedar turn left and then first right (signposted Sun City). At the end of this road, turn right at the T-junction onto the R512.

The R512 takes you through Broederstroom and past Hartbeestpoort Dam and Kosmos. There are several T-junctions and turnings on the route, but at each one keep following the R512 signs. Shortly after Kosmos turn left at a crossroads (still signposted R512), and continue past the Elephant Sanctuary on your left. The R512 becomes the R104 - continue on this road ignoring the signs to Bakabung and Pilanesburg until you reach the junction with the R556. Turn right onto the R556, and follow this road to the entrance to Sun City (approximately 80 km).

General Information For Guests

All rooms have a flat screen TV, air conditioning, a safe, a hair dryer, a telephone, a mini bar, and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. All bathrooms are en-suite with a shower only.

Most of the rooms at the Cabanas have views of the lake, or open up onto tropical gardens of the hotel.

A laundry service and babysitting services are available (additional cost).

There is a main swimming pool.

The hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi.

All the resort facilities are available to any guest staying at the Cabanas including unlimited complimentary access to Valley of the Waves.
