Sand River Masai Mara

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is situated on a secluded and picturesque site along the banks of a river from which it takes its name. It enjoys stunning views over the Sand River, and out to the neighbouring grassy hills and plains of Tanzania.

The camp is perfectly positioned on the migration route for the millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, which move between the Serengeti and Masai Mara every year. As such, this attracts large concentrations of predators, most notably the big cats such as leopard, cheetah and of course, lion.

The Mara itself is also renowned for its year-round spectacular game viewing and wildlife. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide and seated in a comfortable game viewing vehicle with a car fridge full of cold drinks, guests staying here can enjoy morning, afternoon or full day game drives across the grassy plains.

As the sun sets over the vast plains, sit back in a comfy camp chair with a drink in hand, and enjoy some delicious snacks and other appetisers. A perfect finish to the day’s adventures.

Sand River Masai Mara consists of just 16 luxury tented suites including one family tent, each of which has an outdoor shower and bathtub. The camp is divided into 2 separate but adjoining campsites of 10 and 6 tents.

Each "camp" possesses its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy.

The expansive family tent has both en-suite double and twin rooms, adjoined by a lounge area with views over the river.

Full Board Package: Masai Mara Reserve fees; all meals; house wines, soft drinks, beers and selected spirits; and a laundry service are included. Game drives are taken with your private driver-guide.

Game Package: Masai Mara Reserve fees; all meals; house wines, soft drinks, beers and selected spirits; shared game drives with a Sand River Masai Mara guide; a bush hamper with breakfast/lunch; sundowners; dining under the stars; airstrip transfers; and a laundry service are included.

General Information For Guests

The tents are all en-suite with a bathtub and outside shower. They also have an in-room safe, charging points with universal adapters and a personal room attendant. 

Four of the tents contain day beds that can be used as extra beds.

The camp consists of 2 separate tented areas, each with their own guest lounges, dining areas and viewing decks. There is also a swimming pool and games room. 

Activities that are available include morning, afternoon or full day game drives and bird watching. Extra Game Package activities include bush meals and sundowners.

Visits to a local Masai village or school are also available (additional cost).

Balloon safaris can be arranged (additional cost and must be pre-booked).
