Ruckomechi Camp

Ruckomechi Camp

Mana Pools

Ruckomechi Camp Location Map

Set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River with views of the flowing water, adjacent woodlands and the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment in the distance, Ruckomechi Camp is a remote and beautiful place that offers the best of Mana Pools.

The Park has large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted. A common sight on the plains includes the grater kudu, burchell’s zebra and waterbuck, while hippos can always be heard. The birdlife here is fantastic, with numerous species found either on the riverside or further into the Park.

As the camp is on its own private concession, guests can explore its beauty by vehicle or on foot, while boating and canoeing allow for a different perspective.

Morning and afternoon game drives take place both in the concession and the National Park where you will see range of habitats and their wildlife, while nature walks are one of the most thrilling ways of exploring the surrounding bush and often herald many exciting sightings.

Canoeing is a more adventurous option to see the large numbers of water birds and other wildlife that are attracted to the river and seasonal pans.

The camp consists of 10 spacious tents (including 2 family tents), built on low wooden decks, each of which has a veranda with broad vistas of the river.

Rooms connect to the dining, bar and lounge area with walkways and it is in the main area that the library and stargazing deck can be found, along with a relaxing infinity pool.

In addition, there is a romantic star bed situated near a busy waterhole. Gaze up at the African night sky and its wondrous beauty, as you fall asleep to the sounds of wildlife and nature.

Ruckomechi Camp is open from the beginning of April to mid November.
